Golovkin's boxing skills are really underrated.

He looks slow as hell, too hunched over but everyone seems to scared to throw the uppercut. Loads up to much, he is completely open for the right hand.
No head movement, his defense consists of pulling back.

He doesn't seem effective unless you remain static or lay on the ropes.

Its fanboyism, the guy throws ONE counterpunch against Daniel Geale and all of a sudden its proof hes a great counterpuncher.

I am not sold on him as an elite fighter. I think he looks like a very flat, one dimensional Roman Gonzalez or young Cotto.

Nobody at MW is challenging him, most are remotely average 154lb fighters.

I do not see the skills and whatever just a very strong MW who applies intelligent pressure, has a good jab with serious power. He looks highly limited to me.

I see you're new on Boxing Scene: this thread was done and overdone here... Many times...

Then you don't really know what you're watching. GGG stalks and prods and looks for openings then attacks them. Theres lots of subtle things he does with both hands and feet to create these openings.

As if GGG is going to be the one on the backfoot if that fight was made

I think most give GGG credit for his skills. If anything posters want him to fight better opponents so he is forced to utilize all his skills more.

Not by me. He's a very smart counter puncher who does a great job of neutralizing his opponents jab by parrying and returning his own jab or going over top or underneath with an uppercut.

Lol exactly. GGG won't be tested until he hits 168.

He does his style pretty well, managing to both plant himself for punching power and still cut off the ring well in pressuring opponents. Not an easy mix to perfect.

He reminds me most of Julio Cesar Chavez in that regard. His problems will probably come with the first really good hit-n-run artist he comes across (don't see any on the horizon at 160) or Andre Ward at 168 should he have to go there for a payday..
