Golovkin's boxing skills are really underrated.

I pray he does fight Andre Ward so after the fight all this hype will either be warranted or it will fade away. I'd also like to see GGG fight using USADA or VADA testing.GGG can box and punch and just beat the hell out of every one. If one of your favorite fighters fights at 160 or even 168 then pray he doesn't fight GGG because he will get a knock out loss added to his record. Brave Martin Murray I'm sorry but you're going to be KO number 19 in a row for GGG.Comment

Golovkin's inside fighting style is OK...Agreed. The one flaw in Golovkins style is inside fighting. Its not taught in that soviet system because it doesnt pay in amateur scoring. A tricky guy like Ward could cause all sorts of problems by smothering, holding and working inside, frustrate his way to a win.
But, yes, I agree: Ward is able to frustrate him -- by excessive holding and wrestling (accepted by the ref), Ward would prevent Golovkin from moving the way he wants to in order to load. Therefore: I have Ward winning such a fight.
(But, lately, Golovkin said he is going to take extensive drug tests and he asked all his possible opponents to do the same... And as I remember, Ward never took a VADA programme for instance.)Comment

I don't know who underrates them. I hear this moaning about the underappreciation of GGG's skills for a long time. Seriously, we're talking about one of the (if not the) most hyped fighters and some people still complain about Golovkin is being underrated? Please stop...Comment

It means that he has a pretty good boxing foundation as amateur boxing has always been "hit and run(dont get hit)"Just because you're an Olympic Silver Medalist doesn't entail that you can automatically fight well on the backfoot.
Amir Khan is a Silver Medalist and he couldn't fight on the inside for ****.
I haven't really seen Golovkin be forced backwards often. There were a couple of times in the Curtis Stevens fight where he was backed up and didn't really look good. He just took punches.Comment

You took the words right out of my mouth. He reminds me of Chavez quite a bit, albeit a very poor man's version. He does his style pretty well, managing to both plant himself for punching power and still cut off the ring well in pressuring opponents. Not an easy mix to perfect.
He reminds me most of Julio Cesar Chavez in that regard. His problems will probably come with the first really good hit-n-run artist he comes across (don't see any on the horizon at 160) or Andre Ward at 168 should he have to go there for a payday..Comment

I think Canelo could make it a good scrap and might frustrate him a bit but would get stopped. If Ward is still Ward, I think he beats GGG up. GGG is an offensive machine who hasn't been made to think twice when coming forward or forced to go to plan B. I don't see anyone at 160 or below doing either enough to beat him.Comment

oh please. marcos primera also stopped stevens. Is he as good as GGG? Even featherfisted nadam dropped stevens and had him pretty hurt. So GGG is this type of monster puncher and nadam the feather fist. really?Comment

All I've seen is where they're willing to do advanced testing but thus far haven't. It's pointless anyways. It's the out of competition testing that really matters, as guys use PEDs to reach an advanced level of training and then cycle off of the medications prior to competition. One thing that could be said in Golovkin's defense on that matter is that he's so active he wouldn't have time to cycle on and off such drugs.Golovkin's inside fighting style is OK...
But, yes, I agree: Ward is able to frustrate him -- by excessive holding and wrestling (accepted by the ref), Ward would prevent Golovkin from moving the way he wants to in order to load. Therefore: I have Ward winning such a fight.
