He was never that good. He is an above average fighter who got KOed twice by his best opponent. He's similar to a Malignaggi level fighter. Good enough to get a paper title and beat other contenders, not good enough to beat the elite.
Has George Groves been Cobra'd?

I just wrote it in plain english. How could you possibly not have understood it?
It was as a rebuttal towards the term 'ruined by Froch' in case you somehow possibly missed it. I think the term 'ruined' is overused. I dont know if you can possibly understand that stance.Comment

It's pretty unequivocal that Froch ruined Bute. He knocked out Andrade easily in a rematch but has yet to exercise his rematch clause against Froch. No hard to see why.I just wrote it in plain english. How could you possibly not have understood it?

As for Groves, the early signs don't look good. He exuded so much confidence and arrogance in the build-up to the rematch only to get flattened in front of 80,000 people. Got to be difficult to overcome mentally more than anything.Comment

That KO definitely affected him BUT I think the bigger issue was his split with Booth. Booth is a legitimately good trainer and Groves didn't even seem the same in the second fight. He seemed worse in EVERY sense. In the first fight, he only left Booth for a very short period of time so most of the ground work for the first fight was done with Booth plus he could have done with his knowledge in the corner.
Groves also doesn't have the best stamina, he fades in the mid to late rounds pretty badly whereas Froch is even more dangerous then usually because of that.
Dirrell would also tool him. At this point, DeGale would beat him too.Comment

DeGale would beat him at this stage, I'd agree but I'm not so sure bout Anthony, he isn't really truly top level in my opinion and if Groves has the correct game plan and is fit enough, he would take Dirrell. That KO definitely affected him BUT I think the bigger issue was his split with Booth. I think that Bute never was that good. Andrade was foolish in the rematch. Against the limited Magee Bute ate plenty of clean right hands.
Yes, he'll have to show the mentality of a champ to get a World title. He is still young, so we'll have to wait and see what the future brings. I think he has a good chance against Dirrell. Same if he ever fought stablemate Abraham. As for Groves, the early signs don't look good. This. Fitzpatrick is a terrible trainer and Groves has gone backwards under him. He could still be a force to be reckoned with if he got a good trainer. Would be interesting to see him under Hunter.Comment

It's impossible to make that argument using any kind of logic.Comment
