Why is it that most people here believe Cotto is washed up can only beat cripples and is not a great fighter, yet everyone is willing to pay big money to watch him take on Canelo and half of the people on here believe he will kill Canelo. The kid is only 24 only lost once against Floyd and is improving in every fight. The non great cripple beating Cotto is the guy everyone wants to see in the second biggest fight that can happen in 2015 yet he is a ducking washed up diva, gay eye brow plucker and cripple beater. Never been KOed in his career but will get KOed in four rounds by GGG, I personally believe Cotto can't beat GGG, but he's a harder fight for GGG than most think.
Question, why do most people believe Cotto is done?

cotto was never the same after the beatings he took against margarito and pacquiao. and his best weight class was welterweight.
the last time cotto was close to his prime was against pac since then he has faded dramatically. -
He hasn't beaten a fresh, non-handicapped fighter of note since he fought Joshua Clottey almost six years ago, and even that was a debatable decision. The last five years have been all smoke and mirrors.Comment

He's not completely done, he just hasn't had a truly good victory or streak in like 7 years and a lot of people are not buying the "Reinvented by Roach" nonsense.
I followed Cotto's career closely for the first half and thought he would go down in history, but he hit a clear plateau.
Nowadays he's a weird undeserving diva who loses to Austin Trout then somehow remains the A-side in every fight. His fanbase simply needs to reel in their expectations for the sake of reality, but he has good fights left in him.Comment

and if you followed cotto's career you would know that he fought very different from his days with his uncle. He basically was training himself after the margacheat loss, until he hooked up with pedro diaz (which was a terrible mash cuz cotto is an attacker and diaz was training him to box more instead). He actually has thrown more left hooks with roach than prior to being with him. He's not completely done, he just hasn't had a truly good victory or streak in like 7 years and a lot of people are not buying the "Reinvented by Roach" nonsense.

Early on in his career Cotto was a pure boxer but the PR fans did not like that once they got a taste of what he was capable of doing as a seek and destroy fighter. I remember in one fight where he easily won by decision the fans booed through the whole second half of the fight. He was passed and asked his uncle what is it that the fans want from me I'm winning the fights and his uncle told him don't mind them they just want to see knockouts. Cotto ignored his uncles request to ignore the fans and moving forward fought every fight seeking a knockout after that. Later he hired Emanuel Stewart hopping to get back to being a boxer but by then it was too late we the his fans were spoiled. That's why he has been so inconsistent and why he has decided on giving up on the dream of being Sugar Ray Leonard like and who better to team up with if your going to be an offensive fighter. Knowing with this style he would expose himself to more punishment is why the once a year fight.Comment

the other version of what happened, is that cotto looked very good coming up the ranks and impressively beating c level opposition, he started to have much tougher fights against b level opposition, and then got beaten pretty bad by the top fighters.Early on in his career Cotto was a pure boxer but the PR fans did not like that once they got a taste of what he was capable of doing as a seek and destroy fighter. for your version of events to be true, it would be the first time in the history of boxing that that has happened. for the other version to be true, it would mean that what happened to cotto has happened to hundreds, if not thousands fighters before him, and will keep happening for as long as boxing is around.
now, which version do you think a neutral party would believe to be the truth?Comment

Cotto fought the best available in his weight classes, if they were considered c level by your standards that's fine but the truth is that all fighters will face their stiffest apposition as they grow their resume and in between fights face an undefeated bum or two specially after big loses. Heck in the old days champion's use to fight non title fights all the time and in some cases loose and come back defend the title against the best.the other version of what happened, is that cotto looked very good coming up the ranks and impressively beating c level opposition, he started to have much tougher fights against b level opposition, and then got beaten pretty bad by the top fighters.

so basically, the only thing you would challenge in my post, is that some of cottos opposition is being labeled as c level, when that was all that was available?Comment
