Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez Decisions Vlasov, Still Work In Progress

Broomfield, Colo. -- Unbeaten super middleweight contender Gilberto Ramirez earned his biggest win to date, scoring a unanimous decision over Maxim Vlasov in Saturday evening at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

The bout serves in supporting capacity to the third fight between friendly rivals Mike Alvarado and Brandon Rios. It didn't serve as the primer that event handlers hoped for, as action went from steady and bruising to methodical and lacking suspense, prompting boo birds to peek out on occasion. Ramirez looked far from impressive but still a good win to a close fight.

Ramirez is sloppy, slow, predictable, too wide of a stance, average power at best, and easy as hell to hit! He has the fine head movement of a statue. He is not ready or ever will be against the elite. He does not have the "IT" factor, he has the "SHT" factor. Nothing to see here. Edwin Rodriguez chew him up and spit him out like he wasn't even there and Edwin is not that great. Most of the guys in the top 10 would smoke him.

He's very much a work in progress (Ramirez) he looked like a very generic slow Mexican plodder. He should forget about fighting Ward anytime soon. He's about 5-years from that. Imo.

He should forget about almost anyone in the top 10. He is about 5 years from being retired from taking too much punishment with his face blocking all the punches.

Ramirez just needs to be matched properly not looking towards being a top fighter but fights that are good on paper.
