Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Kirkland is a Dangerous Fight For Canelo

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya views James Kirkland (32-1, 28 KOs) as a very dangerous opponent for Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (44-1-1, 31 KOs). As BoxingScene.com reported on Friday, a deal was finalized for a likely date of May 2nd from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The two boxers were first scheduled to fight each other in the fall of 2012, and then Kirkland withdrew with an injury and was later replaced by Josesito Lopez.

He would know. His prized possession at the time Angulo lost to Kirkland.

Two years inactivity makes it a more attractive fight for Canelo.

Of course it's a dangerous fight. Kirkland is a beast.
Only Canelo haters think it's a walk in the park.

as far as i can tell kirkland is unranked at 154 look for an uncompetitive mismatch with alvarez looking for a catchweight
