What a crappy time in history to be a fight fan. Nobody fights each other.
According to Arum, the reason for no Cotto/Canelo is....

See if you read through this whole message board you will see that Cotto fans are no different than the fans of other boxers. And it seems around here that if your a loyal fan of any fighter some how your delusional,******,****,dixk rider or some other derogatory name. I'm not saying that some fans don't get carried away cause some do but that's on the individual not the fighter they support. In all other sports it's ok to be fan's of a particular athlete win loose or draw without the repercussions of being labeled any of the above. Again Cotto is considered by his fans great because of how entertaining his fights are. I don't remember many of Cotto's fights ending in controversy and the only fight that Cotto entered into with anyone knowing that opponent had injuries was the Sergio fight.I have no problem with cheering for your own guys at all. I'm not the PC hippie type, I like the tension and rivalries in boxing.
It just seems that with Cotto, people who are supporting him based on shared nationality start to falsely embellish his record to make him seem like a worthy heir to that fan base.
Mosely was over seven years ago. Since then it's been a very controversy-laden and quite frankly mediocre 8-4, wailing on the injured/retiring or average, and losing to the decent.
A more worthy standard bearer will come along. One of the greatest fighters or our generation? Quite a stretch. With his dedicated PR fanbase he's a superstar, but you take away that glitter and he seems more like an inconsistent gatekeeper.Comment

See do you consider Hopkins a fighter of this era or more of the RJJ, Holyfield, Whitaker era? That's why I have Cotto at 4.
JMM is a great fighter and his win over Pacquiao is better than anything on Cotto's resume. But the rest of the resumes favor Cotto IMO.Comment
