Ariza: Floyd fighting on May 2, but not vs Pacquiao

It's obvious what's happened here, there were negotiations taking place between Floyd's camp and Pacquiao's camp. While the threat of Cotto-Canelo happening on May 2nd still existed, Floyd had no other opponent other than Manny that could take precedence over that fight and date.
It was obvious he was buying time to see if he could persuade Cotto into a rematch but needed Manny there just in case. Cotto ticks all the Mayweather boxes when it comes to picking opponents:
Relatively safe bet Floyd wins? Yes (beat him before, more of the same expected)
Belts for bragging rights? Yes
Hispanic fighter required for May 2nd? Yes
Opponent will take much less money? Yes
Intangibles? None
Come on guys it's blatantly obvious, before Cotto/Canelo got canned we had the highest hopes for the May/Pac fight, a week after and we're here depressed waiting on the official announcement of Mayweather Cotto 2.....Last edited by Prime 407; 01-21-2015, 04:00 PM.

Didn't you just post this:
"There is no way, on God's green earth, that a company like Showtime would hand that contract to Will Smith, let alone Floyd Mayweather. None. Zero. Zilch. And if Dan said that then Bob Arum probably told him that."
???
haha wow that's a huge change in about 5 minutes..... Where did the confidence go?
Just for the record i will be getting the information.

Floyd-Cotto 2 was the fight I was dreading when Martinez v Cotto was put together. A fight for a fake crown.

If this fight doesn't happen we all need to stop buying Floyd and Pac PPVs. Enough is enough, we as fans have to make a statement.
We can't just let them get away with this garbage while we give them our money.
Maybe if we boycotted back in 2009 instead of riding our favorite fighter's ****, it would have already happened.
