Please don't put words in my mouth. I didn't suggest that Wilder duck Klitschko.

A lot of people here didn't believe Wilder belonged in the ring with Stiverne and was destined to be proven a fraud. If you look at my past comments about Wilder, I acknowledged that he still had a lot to prove, but made it clear that I thought he was a legitimate prospect and lamented the fact that so many people were more interested in doubting him than being excited about what he possibly represents (a charismatic American heavyweight champion).

I would love to see Wilder fight Klitschko this year. I don't care if he wins or loses. I think he presents some major challenges to Klitschko and obviously, Klitschko will present major challenges to Wilder. But the sport of boxing wins when fighters take on these kinds of challenges.

We now need Fury vs. Wilder. I think Wilder wins and then Wilder vs Klits. Wilder will have to take the fight to him because he will stand in the middle of the ring and throw that robotic jab and right hook. Wilder may be champ for a long time. I just hope that in order to be a champ, you don't have to be 6'6" and taller. Mike Tyson was 5'10" and dominated the heavyweight division for years.
I'm afraid that's how it'll be in HW division - that height/physique will rule all. I mean, in how many fights did a guy like Valuev hide behind his height advantage? I'm not saying Valuev and Wilder should be compared, but fighting a guy that's 6'6"-7" with a freakish length is hell. Mike was able to minimize his height and reach disadvantages and working his way in with effective head movement and a peek-a-boo style. You don't see that anymore.

Congratulations to Wilder. He executed his job and got the title.

Looks like Jennings just signed to fight Klitschko. Hopefully Wilder goes after Fury and exposes that fat turd. Then we can see a unification at the end of the year.

Stiverne probably expected a different fight from Wilder.

Wilder did what he had to do. Stiverne didn't. Stiverne couldn't cut off the ring even though it didn't look too hard to do. That was just crazy.

You are downplaying height as a potential benefit to Boxing skills by simply saying, it's all height. It isn't.

Wlad is tall and he maximizes his height advantage, but it's his skill, not his height. But in order to fight the way he fights, he of course has to be tall. You can't fight that way and be a Manlet.

This is like downplaying Shaq O'neal's basketball skills as a Center, because he can't play the same way that 5'10 Allen Iverson could.

Height is only good if you have skill that accommodates your height advantage. Paul Williams was a good fighter and had huge height advantages at 147/154 but he fought like a short fighter. He still did well for himself but if he had the skill to go along with his physique, he might have been unbeatable and people wouldn't even have talked about his "great chin" since it wouldn't have been tested as much as it did.

The scores were ridiculous, but the story of this fight was Wilder's skills, on both offense and defense, and his ability to execute the game plan. Stiverne was pretty much neutralized by a guy who was in deep waters for the first time, against the best opponent that he has ever faced. I was impressed. Cong**** to Wilder and to the USA!

Lmaol everyone is saying is impressive but the media always ****s on the germans pure hypocrisy

Yes we needed an American HW champ but we needed an exciting one if wilder couldn't KO stiverne what makes people think he will do it to Wlad.
Because Stivernes chin is 10 times more solid than Klits
