A lot of people here didn't believe Wilder belonged in the ring with Stiverne and was destined to be proven a fraud. If you look at my past comments about Wilder, I acknowledged that he still had a lot to prove, but made it clear that I thought he was a legitimate prospect and lamented the fact that so many people were more interested in doubting him than being excited about what he possibly represents (a charismatic American heavyweight champion).

I would love to see Wilder fight Klitschko this year. I don't care if he wins or loses. I think he presents some major challenges to Klitschko and obviously, Klitschko will present major challenges to Wilder. But the sport of boxing wins when fighters take on these kinds of challenges.
Now if only someone can convince wilders manager haymon that the philosophy of the best facing the best is the best policy, then the fans wouldn't get screwed 3 out of every 4 fights he puts on

Wilder did what he had to do. Stiverne didn't. Stiverne couldn't cut off the ring even though it didn't look too hard to do. That was just crazy.
Stiverne was so overrated its not even funny. Hes slow and fat which is the worst combination you can have in boxing, just ask Chris arreola. Having knockout power and great chin will win a lot of fights in the heavyweight division but against guys with that plus speed skills and great conditioning, its no match. Thank god wilder exposed this hype job. If he's smart he will dedicate himself to training and lose about 40 lbs of fat and try to gain it back in muscle. That's the only way to compete with guys that are as conditioned as wilder or klitschko.

For anybody trying to downplay that victory or in any way compare or complain that it was boring or Klitchko like, give the man his due. He is clearly still pretty raw and his stamina could be better but for a guy making his debut in the top level of the sport, it was a great performance. He showed patience, stuck his gameplan and just dominated a guy people assumed he knock out in first half of the fight to think he had a chance. Clearly there are some vulnerabilities but what more can you ask than a guy fighting the champ straight up without clinching and just proving who the better fighter really is. I'm proud to be a boxing fan tonight. The glamour division just received a real boost.

Wilder did good with his jab but Stiverne fought like crap stood straight up If I was his trainer I would have told him to bob and weave more double or triple the jab to the body followed by a straight right to the body than go up stairs, Does Stiverne know how to cut off a ring ? at 36 I doubt he'll make it back It just seemed like he was tired by round 7
