If the fight is already signed there is no obligation from Kovalev to do anything, even of it's the "right thing to do". Pascal really should have learned that these sorts of things need to be ironed out before the contracts are signed.

I always thought when Hopkins refused it was a good mental game to Pascal, kept him thinking "maybe this guy is on something, maybe he isn't normal" making him think he's in the ring with some super human. Kovalev already has the perception of a killer though so there isn't much of a mental advantage here by refusing, in fact I'd be worried that Pascal withdrawals and cancels the fight.

This is what I think as well. Fighters who are adamant about their opponent taking tests have already lost the fight. They've lost the mental edge. Because that's all their thinking about. Pascal was already a big underdog in this fight, rightfully so, now he's going up against a guy with high KO %. Somethings playing in his mind.

I'll give Pascal this, he's not being a hypocrite about because apparently he asked all of his opponents since the Hopkins bout to do testing. So as dumb as he is, he does want to try and make the sport clean.

He's asking after the fight is signed. He shouldn't have signed the contract without it being in place. Then he should have went on a media tirade saying kova is refusing testing and the fans would have been on his side.

That didn't work for Mayweather so why would it work for Pascal of all people

That's my question. These things should be worked out when signing the contract. Otherwise it's a pointless request because the other fighter is not obligated at that point.

**** that mayweather made chino wear a glove of mayweather's choice when it wasn't in the contract. What makes this different? I'm kovalev fan but what does it matter if it's after the contracts are signed if he is clean and it's not going to cost him money.

Thing is if you was to look at the two you'd probably assume if either was on steroids it would be the heavily muscled Pascal.
