The fights done. No need for anymore updates. If anyone backs out now it will ruin them forever.

Exactly. You can tell they have to tread lightly around Arum or risk him picking up the ball and going home (again). So no need to get into the back and forth. Hopefully, just hopefully, everyone is genuine and we have an announcement within the next couple weeks.

Jim Lampley has always had a soft spot for older men in his life like Larry (Merchant) and Emanuel (Stewart), so it's natural that after Larry leaving and Emmanuel dying Jim wasn't at his best. However, in the last year Jim has come back to where he was before the tragedies.

There is nobody even close to the popularity of Jim as host and blow-by-blow commentator among casual boxing fans, and it's because of him intensifying the broadcast with emotive terms, inclusive language, imagery, provocative adjectives, hyperbole, similes, juxtapositions and exclamations; as well as building up a passionate mode with an enthusiastic and thrilling tone. Most casual boxing fans love to listen when Jim takes them on an emotional ride into HBO World Championship Boxing, and who blames them because most hosts and blow-by-blow commentators aren't very skilled at doing it.

Jim Lampley has the skill set to satisfy most casual boxing fans. However, people in the boxing industry usually prefer silent blow-by-blow commentator, or someone who keeps the hype and the feelings to a minimum.

Wouldn't surprise me if they use all of them in some way for prefight/commentary/post fight. Maybe HBO can bring back Larry Merchant just for the Mayweather post fight interview.

Al Bernstein, Max Kellerman, and Andre Ward would be my commentator preference.

I realize I'm in the minority.
