Amir Khan's trainer Freddie Roach is convinced that the Briton can defeat Floyd Mayweather Jnr after he "beat the s**t out of" Manny Pacquiao during sparring.

Roach, who oversees both Khan and Pacquiao, pitted the two against each other during one of Khan's training sessions ahead of his bout with Marcos Maidana.

According to Roach, Khan proved his pedigree at the highest level by dominating the man widely regarded to be the world's pound-for-pound king.

"Amir beat the s**t out of him for four rounds in the last session before we started easing off the training," Roach said. "Even Manny knows that and he said so."

Khan, who defends his WBA light-welterweight strap against Maidana at the weekend, is training his sights on a 2011 bout against Mayweather Jnr. Taking on the unbeaten American would mean a step up in weight - and quality - for Khan, but Roach has no doubts that the 24-year-old has what it takes to triumph.

"I used to think I had one fighter who could beat Mayweather - but now I think I have two," Roach said. "I am not a big fan of Mayweather - Amir and Manny have speed which he can't handle. If Mayweather won't fight Manny, maybe he'll fight Amir.

"I am not saying I would want that one right now, but maybe in another two fights. I have never had a better listener than Amir. You give him a gameplan and he sticks to it. I know he will do that on Saturday."

Khan was in training camp and Pac wasn't. The purpose of sparring is to prepare the guy who has a big fight coming up not hurt him, so it only makes sense that Amir "beat the ****" out of Pac in that exchange.

exactly cause if Manny was knocking down Khan like Roach previously stated he would be all over this fight. I think Roach wanting Garcia over khan tells you who was really getting the business in sparing.

So before there was a possibility of pacquiao fighting khan in the u.k and roach was down with it, cause he knew khan was with al haymon and that fight will never happen , but now that schafer and oscar settled things out and khan is no longer with haymon and back with golden boy the fight is not a good fight, you gotta love this ***in clown roach , there is a reason mayweather is also ducking khan

You are not informed he was always with Al but they thought he would be with both but khan said he's a free agent who is still with Al
