Comments Thread For: Lamon Brewster Tabs Deontay Wilder To Beat Stiverne

BoxingScene.com recently sat down with former heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster. The 41-year-old captured the WBO title in 2005 and successfully defended it three times before losing a unanimous decision to Siarhei Liakhovich in April, 2006.

When asked for his opinion on the upcoming WBC heavyweight title fight between Bermane Stiverne and Deontay Wilder, Brewster stated that he favored the American underdog.

    Don't get it

I am missing what everyone sees in wilder. Yes he kos every bum he ever fought never fought a contender. He doesn't throw combos doesn't punish them with the jab setting them up no left hook just eventually throws big right hand bomb and they stay down. So either power is legit or its bum factor. But where is the all around skill set that everyone is awed? Even Joshua with 8 or so fights has higher skill set. I'm Leary over chin and stamina never been tested.

I agree but that is why this fight is so intriguing. I think everyone can agree that Stiverne is a legit heavyweight so if Wilder some how beats him up pretty good then I think it would be safe to say that he really does have some freaky power.

Nobody see's anything in Wilder but size and big right hand because frankly that is all that is there.
They're just picking him because they're American and hope he can pull it off.

A lot of Americans are not sold on Wilder or picking him. I'm one of them. So don't tell that lie.

Isn't Stiverne American too? I know the media list him as Canadian, but he grew up in America and left the country as a young adult at 18 to move to Montreal to live with relatives. I know Stiverne has distanced himself from his Canadian "heritage" because the money is in being an American.

He's Haitian. Grew up in Miami and moved to Canada.
