An offer to Floyd Mayweather Jr. to fight Manny Pacquiao in Abu Dhabi this spring for a record-setting purse of $120 million is off the table.
M. Akbar Muhammad, a long-time boxing executive (who previously worked with Don King), said he put Mr. Mayweather on notice approximately one week ago that the offer, made late November by an investment group out of Abu Dhabi, would be rescinded the first week of January.
“We want to deal with serious individuals, individuals who have the ability make a decision,” said Muhammad. “Regretfully, that is not the case with Mr. Mayweather.

lol stfu, he fought where he was getting paid, period.
Same reason Abril went to Finland to fight, Rigo went to Japan and Takam went to Moscow. They'll sign with whoever puts the money up.
That's what prize-fighters do.
Those who don't want to fight turn huge money deals down, we all know who falls into that bracket but keep making excuses, you're well-versed at this point.
He represents the Al Haymon school of business, do whatever Al advises even if it means vacating titles and walking away from the biggest paydays of his career.Comment

It takes more than just money to make a deal, contrary to what people think, there are logistics involved too. That being said, people slamming this offer are being kind of ignorant. How the hell is this investment group trying to get publicity when they don't even state who it is? Is it Qatar Investment Authority who holds assets in excess of 170 billion or one of many other investment groups? UAE groups have been trying to host FIFA World Cup for years as they host FIFA U17, U20, etc and I wouldn't be surprised if they do one day. Groups from the UAE have purchased European football clubs and I see this as no different, trying to purchase a big event. Those of you who have been to UAE know that it's an immaculate place, makes a place like Vegas seem stale and outdated.
When I was in the military reenlisting in Gulf was tax free. Wonder if that 120 mil purse would have been tax free?Comment

I never expected Floyd to fight over there anyways.
And why can't they just get the NORMAL promoters, networks and management deal? If the fight is worth as much as they say it is. Why do they need all these outside companies to pay this and that?
Just do it the freaking normal way and get it done.Comment
