Of course he'd get killed by many heavyweights from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s but for his time he was the best heavyweight and that's all we can really judge him by.

He beat tomato cans and his boxing stance was stiff, I'm not even sure he would beat Povetkin. It doesn't matter if you're undefeated or has been a champ for long, what matters is your technique and opposition and Louis fought like he has an injury in the neck and he fought tomato cans, face the facts instead of being ignorant.

Exactly, that's the fair way to look at it! He was the best in a weak era and I respect him, but his fangirls in here are making me sick. They don't even believe in what they're saying, watch the guy fight and the guys he fought, damn it.

I will give you this. I don't think I've ever seen a troll whip himself into such an emotional frenzy before. It's actually quite entertaining. You seen to have inadvertently trolled yourself!

Tell me this. Do you give Mayweather full respect for his long historic reign, even if he didn't fight Pacquiao? His opposition was better than the opposition of Louis and that's a fact, even if both resumes lacks proper signature wins.

Do you think it's good in boxing to stand still like a pole and get hit all the time and then suddenly unload? How would that work against Tyson?

The Green Bay Packers of the 60's must truly suck because the Packers on the new millennium would destroy them.

The Montreal Canadians of the 50's are trash because the Redwings of the 90's would have torn them up.

The New York Yankees of the 50's must have been **** because todays Yankees would thrash them..

It's called evolution my young boxing babies. Compare the size and strength, as well as the skill of the football players in the 50's to the football players today. The athletes are bigger, stronger and faster than those who came years before them. The same for baseball, football, hockey and boxing.

I'm probably beating a dead horse here.

Everybody understands how to type and give opinions it seems that yet few have the knowledge to give an educated opinion.

Everything evolves with time, except the Detroit Lions.......... Rockin'
Joe Louis don't suck, he would be a good cruiserweight even today, but he is in no way considerable for an alltime P4P spot, his era was too weak and he was too stiff.

I won't engage with any of your 'points' because they don't warrant it.

It'd be the conversational equivalent of rooting through my trash can, pulling out a discarded milk carton and making a case for it being garbage.

There's no need. It's self evident.

                    Hear hear !

Comparable to the late '70s - early '80s lightheavyweight division.

Personally I don't even bother with this current heavyweight division much (although I'm kind of watching Wilder's progress)

Jeez the stuff you hear from "fans" talking "bums", lol. Not going to feed this one anymore.

Funny how emotional Louis fans are.

The only thing they can say is: "He was the champ for a long time! He was 1 of the 10 people to beat Baer and Walcott! He didn't need to move his head, it doesn't matter that Walcott knocked his stiff head down! Louis would beat Vitali by standing and eating his punches and then suddenly unload! The best ever!"
