Klitschko's division is pretty slow too for those of us who remember the '70s. These old fighters are cruiserweights for pete's sake, lol. I have to wonder how Ali would have done with Lennox Lewis for that matter. The heavies will never be fairly compared for that reason.....the top contemporary heavyweights are just much bigger.
    WRONG.

Many of Klitschko's opponents are objectively FASTER than the opponents of either Ali or Louis DESPITE being larger.

Liston, slowest champ of all time, at only 215lbs!

Klitschko himself at 6'6" and 250 is in reality FASTER than 6'6" 212lb Terrell!

The further you go back in time, the weights go down, and also the more and more bums. That is a fact.

Ali's was a kind of half bum era.

    Louis's era was bums mainly!

I know it can be difficult when a thread borders on slanderous to hold back from trying to counter it but when the TS has a Dec 2014 join date, is plastered in red kudos and this is his opening gambit:

      Well. He's clearly trolling.

There's little point in engaging with him. Better to abstain from posting and let his thread sink into oblivion.

To call the 70's kind of a "bum" era, shows you don't know sh**. The 70's was one of the most stacked heavyweight era's of all time. The 30's - 40's were very stacked as well, compared to this past decade it makes the 30's - 40's where the golden era.

And their are no current heavyweights that could match Louis in skill and speed, their are no big hitters like Marciano or Dempsey or Tyson, and their is no one who holds the attattention like Louis or Ali.

And your argument of weight is flawwed, when smaller guys took on much bigger (Physically) competition and destroying them. Like Louis vs Carnera or Dempsey vs Willard or Ali vs Forman.

Louis is easily the best technical heavy to date! The people who don't see that are "fans" not people who have earned a living in the sport as teachers and matchmakers.
There are correct and incorrect techniques and the average fan simply knows nothing about form & style!
Joe Louis fought everyone available to him during his prime. After he defeated the top ten men he offered local (regional, state, citywide) contenders an opportunity to fight for the title.
His bouts against Marciano and Charles and Walcott are far beyond his prime years and if you don't know that then do some homework.

Great heavies can win over one another after all they are ranked as greats!
Louis is considered great because he has skills with power in both hands. He punches in combination and works the body with both hands.
As to the speed comparisons you need to understand that the shutter speed your viewing is 75+ years old. The speed in the reel to reel cameras of the day did not match the actual speed of the components. Any one with half a brain should realize that.

To make a statement that Wlad or ANY opponent was faster than Ali is ridiculous! Everyone knows that Ali is the fastest heavy to date and easily would out box Wlad and anyone Wlad has choosen to fight.

It would be like Superman vs Herman Munster, Wlad throwing one punch at a time and stepping over his lead foot!! Not a very good technical boxer, his opponents are the worst ever too!

Well said. If Joe had a bum of the month club... what would you call Wladimir current resume??? Literally bums for the past decade. It's ridiculous to even try to compare the two. In fact in down right Blasphemy

What a joke. This is exactly the attitude that is DESTROYING boxing!

Show a fight of Ali or Joe Louis to anybody in the street, then show a fight of a Klitschko or a Stiverne and you will get 100% agreement on this side. THEN tell them that there are boxing fans who believe that these old timers could "TAKE" the current champs and their opponents.

They would say the same thing as me..

"Unbelivable!" "How could anybody be that ******!"

Just imagine Billy Conn, going up against Mormeck? It would be a complete mismatch!

Just imagine Joe Frazier, going up against Samuel Peter? Guys in the back seats will have to duck Joe's head as it comes flying!

Corso tries to tell us that Louis is the technically best fighter all time.

Why is it then he was viciously knocked down left right and centre by guys who boxed part time? Why did he struggle to beat fighters with bummy records and light heavies? Why does he get hit all the time? To what moments of what fights can you point to and show me he was technically skilled?

Nobody prior to 1980 had what we would TODAY regard as boxing "skills". The sport was basically a tough man contest back then, very unprofessional. Today it is an "ELITE" sport.

Ironically, Wladimir Klitschko has the best 200+ record and resume of any HW of all time.

Nobody has fought MORE quality opponents than Wladimir Klitschko which were 200+, ever in the history of boxing. That is a fact.

Wladimir's WORST OPPONENTS in championship times would have DOMINATED the Louis era unchallenged and would have atleast been champs in the Ali era as well!

It is unimaginable what Klitschko's BETTER opponents could do to Ali or Louis, let alone Stiverne or Klitschko themselves!

Joe Luis' historic championship reign lasting 140 consecutive months, during which he fought in 26 championship fights. People saying he's overrated are pretty ******.

                      1) I get more green points than red, the red ones I get are just for some reason pulling me further down than the others up.
                      2) I say the truth and some people hate the truth.
                      3) You're the one trolling here. I mean, LOOK AT LOUIS BOXING! Are you f***ing ******ed? The guy was soo easy to hit, doesn't take a genius to know that.

Seriously, I like Joe Louis, but people in here are nostalgic wankers and deep inside, you know he wouldn't last a round against Tyson.

And no, I DON'T consider guys like Max Baer impressive and neither Joe Walcott, I honestly don't, there is no reason to consider them impressive. Their records suck, their resume sucks, they box more amateurish than modern amateurs and that's the truth, swallow it, it won't choke you unless you allow it to.
