Canelo is not JCC, think we have to understand that. He is a monster at 154 and only a master boxer or brilliant boxer puncher beats him or a 154 Duran type. His greatest feat will be a 2nd or 3rd weight class win. He has improved defensively.

Terance Crawford at 140 would be grew for his next fight, but I would rather see him take the ibf belt from kell brook
Mikey Garcia is coming back this year, hopefully they have him fight Vargas for the wba 140 belt and then Manny can face Mikey Garcia in the fall.
Besides those 3 fights the most logical opponent would be canelo at 152. He is much quicker than canelo and does very well against flat footed come forward fighters
Likewise, canelo doesn't have any big names options in 154 lbs. He can face cotto at a 155 catchweight, and he'd be better off fighting Manny at a 152 lb catchwright than against ggg at 160 because its a way bigger fight, although him and ggg would do well but its high risk low reward wheras pacquiao is high risk high reward. What other big names at 154 could he really face for big ppv fights and legacy fights?
Pacquiao has a couple more options than canelo but eventually I think it would make sense for both of them, and would likely sell 2 million ppv buys

I said it before the fight. Canelo was in a no lose situation. Had he won he would have been the next ODL. He lost but he is young and if he keeps winning people will just chalk it up to inexperience. He still got his payday and major exposure.

I don't have a problem with him getting the decision against Trout or Lara, but it's how he received it. I don't give a single ****. There's no way you are gonna tell me with a straight face he was up 9 rounds on Trout, and around 7 or 8 against Lara on that one judges card.
He's a talented fighter, but it annoys the hell out of me how they are basically trying to hand him the keys. Nothing short of putting him in a coma is gonna get you a decision at this point.

True. I had him winning the fight and so did a lot of people like the judge. It was very close, I had Canelo winning 117-114. He got confidence boost because it looks like he saw himself winning as well.

When Floyd fought Canelo everyone thought Canelo would beat Floyd. They thought he was too big but he lost almost every round and got schooled. The network put pressure on Floyd to fight him now how was that cherry picked. Manny cherry picks his opponents,

Mayweather showed him he is not quite elite yet. Those 2lbs made no difference, i'm sure Canelo would tell you the same. He was just in the ring with a more experienced and smarter fighter that night, who just happens to be the p4p number 1 in the world.
There is no shame in losing that fight. However if Canelo goes on to be one of the greats of his era and if he goes on to be the number one guy in the sport, he will always have that Mayweather loss there hanging over him from such a huge event and people saying "but Mayweather schooled him".
The problem with boxing fans is there is no middle ground, you are either a bum or a god. As far as boxing to say goes, Mayweather is/was at the very top, a loss to him does not make Canelo a hype job. He is still a very, very good young fighter who will beat some top fighters in his career. Mayweather is just a very different and very difficult task to solve and conquer as Canelo found out. Big deal. He's still a top fighter in his own right. Also, being schooled by Mayweather at a young age but sharing a ring with him and experiencing the occasion is probably a priceless education for a young fighter.

I don't make excuses. He lost the boxing match. He should have used his advantages in the ring but he chose not to. He shoulda woulda coulda. It is what it is. Canelo is still a top 5 fighter and a problem.
