I wonder if his brother still has the 9/14/13 tattoo or if he covered it up.

Canelo has been consistent with it , in order to beat him you need to knock him out.
Hell, even against Mayweather he was about to get away with another robbery.
Let's not forget the ridicolous open scorecards against Trout, nor the visionary 117-111 against Lara.
Canelo cannot even complain about catchweights, since his last few fights were at 155, yet he'll probably fight for the lineal MW title without doing anything to deserve it.
I don't think Canelo is a bad fighter, but his carreer has been built, everything was handed to him, and that's something I cannot respect.

I had him beating Lara and Trout, but only just. I would not complain about a draw. I would hate to think Lara got that decision after his marathon tactics. He could have given Haile Gebrselassie a good race that night.
Mayweather showed him he is not quite elite yet. Those 2lbs made no difference, i'm sure Canelo would tell you the same. He was just in the ring with a more experienced and smarter fighter that night, who just happens to be the p4p number 1 in the world.
There is no shame in losing that fight. However if Canelo goes on to be one of the greats of his era and if he goes on to be the number one guy in the sport, he will always have that Mayweather loss there hanging over him from such a huge event and people saying "but Mayweather schooled him".
The problem with boxing fans is there is no middle ground, you are either a bum or a god. As far as boxing to say goes, Mayweather is/was at the very top, a loss to him does not make Canelo a hype job. He is still a very, very good young fighter who will beat some top fighters in his career. Mayweather is just a very different and very difficult task to solve and conquer as Canelo found out. Big deal. He's still a top fighter in his own right. Also, being schooled by Mayweather at a young age but sharing a ring with him and experiencing the occasion is probably a priceless education for a young fighter.Last edited by who_necks; 01-03-2015, 05:51 AM.

But you have to admit that he did not win the first 4 rounds against Trout as the open scorcards suggested.
As for Lara, a 115-113 kind of scorecard favoring either fighter is not a scandal (though I think Lara won), but you cannot tell me it was a 117-111 Canelo with a straight face.
Saul is a good fighter, but he's being helped a lot.

In the trout fight, one judge had it 118-109 for Canelo which is complete insanity. I had Canelo winning by about a round.

this knucklehead is lucky. he lost the trout and Lara fights.but i blame lara for stinking up the joint. its guaranteed that he'll never get in there with those two again, the style is the reason oscar shot down the andrade fight.but finally i'm glad alvared seems a little humble in words.

Lol wow you lose a fight by a huge margin against a guy twice your age and that raises your stock? Lmao I thought canelo was alright until this. That is another amir khan type statement. I do give him credit for trying to face the best though. Trout and Lara were close fights, hoe could anybody give him less credit fir beating them just be caus they were close fights? A win is a win even if it "arguably" could have gone the other way. People can make arguments about whatever they want, but usually when two fighters throw almost equal punches, the judges give it to the person who was forcing the action and being more aggressive. Canelo did that in both fights so of course they give it to him in close fights. Same with the first 3 pacquiao, Marquez fights. Pacquiao was the one forcing the action and hitting harder and scoring knockdowns. The close rounds the judges gave to pacquiao for being the aggressor when they threw an equal amount of punches, and people call that a robbery?
