Why do people get upset when you question the validity of Cotto's win over Sergio?

I can see that but I wanted to find some neutral ground for this fight. I am a pretty big fan of Cotto and an admitted Sergio nuthugger, so I try my best to find a common stance. Given the choices though, Sergio was FAR less than 100% and I find it hard to believe that anyone would say that he was unless there was a distinct agenda in play.

Think about it though. Yes, Cotto looked good. But aren't you suppose to when your fighting a gimp-legged fighter? Who wouldn't have looked good in there against that Martinez? If I had to lean towards one reason on why that fight played out the way it did, it would def be because of Sergios bum knees instead of the way around.

I definitely want to give Cotto all the credit that can be given for this win, I did think he looked very good in this fight. However (as we all knew this sentence would begin something like this), yeah.......Sergio was not even 85% of himself just a year earlier in my estimation. At first, I thought I was selling Cotto short but I rewatched the fight several times and each time I did, I kept seeing a worse and worse Martinez until the point where I thought to myself, man, you are just seeing it this way because you wanted Martinez to win, so I just said to myself, Sergio wasn't 100% and Cotto looked good.....that's all I've got.

No1 is blaming Cotto for winning. But he did choose to make history against a guy coming of two knee surgeries and who wasn't able to walk properly at one point. Martinez woulda fought him in a wheelchair if it came down to it. He wanted the "name" on his resume and wanted the big fight. The only big fight he had prior to that was Chavez. Cotto didn't choose to make history against no Golovkin or Quillin.

Martinez was "The Man" at 160. Cotto did his job. Cotto still has plenty of time to fight Golovkin or Quillin and now he has something to bring to the table should he choose to do so.
It wasn't a cherry pick by Cotto at all .. A majority here on NSB picked Martinez.. Nobody predicted the outcome and rather than admit they were "wrong" people would rather make excuses to cover for their lack of psychic ability as though being able to tell the future is common or something.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.. An equal mix of Cotto being "that good" and Martinez being "that bad".

Austin fucking Trout is a red herring.

Martinez has nothing to do with Austin Trout.. We all know how well triangle theories work anyway.. Plus it is a discredit to Austin Trout as a world class boxer to blame his performance on Cotto being shit rather than what Trout did right.
Same thing is now being applied To Cotto Martinez only it's Martinez being so bad that made Cotto look so good.. If that's the case Than Trout should easily be able to Mop the floor with any version of Martinez. But triangle theory is useless so please, put it away.
