Morales, Barrera & Pacquiao can lose to complete bums and still come back as if nothing happened. Marquez on the other hand, is not a big draw at all, even before he lost to Chris John.

Marquez' biggest mistake is refusing the rematch with Pac. I believe he would've won against Pac back in Feb2005 if the rematch had pushed through. Pac was still "too left-hand happy" and very reckless back then.

Marquez is getting older and Pac is getting better. Time is NOT on his side. And I wasn't surprised that Chris John won, I've seen his fights with Gainer and Browne and I was very impressed with him both times.

There is a big difference though.Erik was going up in weight.JMM was not...But mostly, Erik is a superstar. One defeat hardly demeans his stature.Heck, he got knocked out by PAC but people will still pay to see him fight.Sadly the same cant be said for JMM.He is no superstar and one defeat may just be his one way to obscurity. ;P

JMM is a very sound technical fighter, the problem is his career is being mismanaged. If he can drop Beristain now and climb up into the next division, I guess it's not too late.

If he can fight Barrios or the other title holder at 130 then force a fight with MAB or Pacquaio he'll be back in the limelight. One point to take note though is that he cannot dictate purses like what his team wanted to do before because he is not a draw and will never will be a draw because of his fighting style. JMM has the distinction of the most boooed title fights.

JMM is the original chickengay....LOL just kidding.

He's still the only guy I know who has the biggest chance of winning against Pacquiao.

Morales, much like Barrera and Pacquiao, have a very large, loyal fanbase. Pacquiao could lose against Larios the way Morales lost again Raheem and nothing would happen, there would still be plenty of fights waiting for him to take.

Most boxers are not as lucky, and there are some who just cannot afford to lose. One of them was Marquez. Margarito also comes to mind, he lost a very questionable decision vs Santos and it has cost him dearly.

You got it right there man.

Marquez was always on shaky ground. As talented as he is, he never had a country in his corner like Pacquiao does.

I am very high on Marquez's ability; the man is lethal but I wonder how much of that has been to his detriment.

People talk all this mess about Nacho Beristain, but where has Top Rank been when it comes to Marquez's publicity and making him a high profile fighter?

Beristain trains Marquez and has looked out for him since day one, but he doesn't have the money to throw at Marquez, nor the influence to force the issue with him.

It is very sad, but I wonder whether we are seeing this dissipation with Marquez because Top Rank chose to go with Morales, keeping Marquez away from him and on the backburner while making Morales a huge star?

You're telling me that in the duration of three Morales-Barrera fights, a company as reputable as Top Rank could not do something with a fighter as talented as Marquez?
