How do you rate J M Marquez since the John fight?

I felt that going to Indonesia was a formality for Marquez and that he would take that one short paynight in order to try and force his way back into the title picture. It was not to be. Now I feel that the whole landscape around him has changed. There is no doubt in my mind that he is perhaps the best fighter in the featherweight division, and would be more than competitive wherever he fought, but now more than ever, fighters have a reason to avoid him.

    What say you?

I have not seen the fight yet so it is hard to say.John is either that damn good or JMM had a bad night.either wat he is still a very good fighter who will give anyone a tough fight.

it was a very bad decision for him and his management to tuen down the offer for the pacman rematch. imagine the 6-fogure paycheck and a chance to become the best featherweight in the world thrown of the garbage bin now. he travelled to the other side of the world for a measly 30k and got beaten by a relatively unknown fighter in chrs john. news say that it wasn't a homecooked decision, so chris john must be be that good after all.

he will need all the luck he can get to get to where he was before. gone were the days when he was a hot commodity. gone were the days where he can earn top dollars. it was too bad for him. he needs to fire nacho as a manager. nacho has to stick to being a trainer and not not as a lousy manager. i still want to see him fight the pacman though, although i think that chance of happening in two years is close to nil. at the time, he will be out of his prime while manny is still at it.

JMM was known as the avoided one before PAC faced him.Now that he lost his last fight, he doesnt have any legit belt.He no longer has any bargaining chip to lure the big stars to fight him.JMM is now what we call a "very high risk-very low reward fighter".

Anyone think that this is just too much for Marquez now, he is well set up outside of boxing and he may as well retire with his faculties intact?

Never rated him that highly to begin with. Since losing that fight he's been demoted in pretty much everyones book. I haven't seen the fight so I don't know if a) John is a great fighter, b) Marquez has fallen off, c) he just had a bad night, etc...

Anyway, he's definitely not going to see big paydays until he claws his way back to the top. I don't think he will retain his skills all that much longer though.

I rate him in about the same place. 2 steps higher than Donkey Balls, 1 step below one of Prince Hamed's farts.

If Morales can lose to Raheem and come back as if nothing happened, we can cut Marquez a break for this.
