I enjoy watching Kirkland in the ring, it's outside the ring where he needs to get it together. It's boxing he can always come back and get some good fights and get paid.
Is James Kirkland finished?

I tell you what, when James first burst onto the boxing scene with Anne Wolfe I thought he would've been the heir apparent to the 154 pound division. But the choices he made proved that what you do out of the ring shape the outcome to what you do in the ring. This dude had everything going for him.Comment

His two year prison stint he did before the Ishida fight probably ruined him. I don't think Ishida does that to him if not for fighting like four fights in a month fresh out of jail and not with Wolfe.Comment

He only served one year of prison though; still ruinous enough I guess. No matter, they were trying to rebuild him, but Ishida ruined that.Comment

Well he got back with Wolfe after that and obviously had the best win of his career knocking out Angulo so Ishida didn't really ruin him. The problem with James Kirkland is James Kirkland himself. Very Bad decisions throughout his career. He's messed up his own career. He's in the same boat as guys like Dirrell and Gamboa as far as f'ing up their careers by signing contracts with crappy promoters, etc. and being inactive for long stretches of time.Comment
