Oscar was old and past his prime, Margarito has always been a over-hyped bum, and Cotto was washed up/shot since Margarito 1 (the Martinez win means nothing, he to was an over-hyped bum). Pac just beat old, washed up fading stars at catch-weights that were made to build Pacquiao's name brand and pass the torch with the casual and common boxing audience. I didn't watch any of those fights.

Floyd on the other hand, is the true catch-weight king for what he did with the Alvarez fight. Floyd had no problem fighting Oscar or Miguel Cotto at 154 except Canelo, why? Why the 152 catch-weight? Once a fighter achieves his min or established, optimal weight, that fighter can NOT go half a pound under! But casuals don't understand that concept, catch-weights or what it did to Canelo that night. A big guy like Canelo is not supposed come down in weight like that, it took everything out of him. He was physically weak/no strength, drained and had no pop behind his punches. Basically, Canelo wasn't at his best or 100% that night.

That fight was supposed to be a mega event, clash of the titans, best of the best fighting each other and it should have went down as another great fight in boxing's history. Instead, the fight was a complete joke because of the catch-weight, it was nothing more than an over glorified sparing match.
Floyd and his team knew what they were doing, they manipulated a young, rising star in Canelo. How would of Floyd felt if he was manipulated and taken advantage of so early in his career with that catch-weight? Truly disgraceful that Floyd is, how dare he do that. Oh but no, you're a racist or a hater if you bring that up.

And that's why Floyd gets no respect, he's a scam, snake oil salesman, a con artist. His best win was against Diego Corrales. Manny gets respect and will be remembered because of his wars with the 3 Mexican greats: Barrera, Morales and Marquez.
    How so?

Floyd Mayweather fought a young and strong, 24 year old Canelo Alvarez at 152, two pounds below the limit, and let Canelo Alvarez rehydrate to whatever weight he deemed physically comfortable, which ended up being, unofficially, 170 pounds. (Canelo lost the fight wide, but it's not like he lost because his tank ran empty).

Oscar De La Hoya, in the twilight of his career and after spending the prior 5 years 154-160, was forced to walk into the ring for the Pacquiao fight at 147. And that's even before mentioning any of the other catchweights.

If Oscar gets the opportunity to rehydrate, even if he was still forced to weigh-in at 147, Oscar beats Pacquiao. If Margarito gets to weigh-in at 154, leaving at least some of the fight in his body, Pacquiao doesn't stop him and Margarito's size likely wears Pacquiao all the way out.

The two pounds that Canelo gave up does nothing to change how their fight went.

Pacquiao is a clown, and history will look to him as such; a super bantamweight who used smoke and mirrors to trick people into viewing him as an actual elite fighter.

He's done the same thing. He knew Manny would stay active, he stands toe to toe and trades with everyone, while Floyd hoped he'd have too many wars. So today, he STILL won't get in the ring with Pac. That's just how small his sack is.
Before Floyd fought De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton (leveraging those fights, the Wrestlemania experience, and Dancing With the Stars into launching himself into a megstar), no name fighters would go anywhere near mentioning Floyd as an opponent.

A man with no real education beyond what he picked up by the time he was 14, who is currently facing the equivalent of $100m in tax debts, will be more "respected" lol.

        • No ****, Oscar. And there's no one more aware of this than Floyd. He may be illiterate, but he understands how to engage the masses. When Floyd 'retired' and did the WWE stint, he clearly observed that creating a persona/narrative/character was what kept people tuning in to that ******ed 'sport'
He comes back and changes from Pretty Boy to Money/TBE, which is subtle genius in marketing terms bc it keeps people tuning in to see you lose. Couple that w fighting on holiday weekends that have built-in Latino support, and you've all the "disrespect" (and money that comes with it) than you could ever ask for.
