Just how powerful is Sergey Kovalev?

Hes already killed another boxer with a punch and has a high KO ratio, is nearly/is undefeated.

Is he one of the most powerful punchers ever or just another knockout artist that doesn't make it to the elite in terms of punching power compared to the best in history?

Also what about triple G? People are comparing him to Julian Jackson but I think that is a bit much.

He KOs opponents with body shots and hit Hopkins so hard in the 1st round knockdown he was scared to throw the rest of the fight.

I suspect he hits hard enough to take out Adonis. Although the reverse is probably true too.

What's good about Kovalev is the number of short powerful shots he can throw in quick succession and with both hands. Stevenson is a bit more about the booming straight left.

I didn't start following the sport actively until the mid 90's, so I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I can stack his power up with boxers throughout history, but just from what I've seen he's up there as far as power punchers in recent memory.

            Kovalev has absolutely freakish power.

and kovalev's punches appear concussive even when his feet aren't flat, which makes him more effective at more ranges than e.g. golovkin. he has that sort of dynamic power that pacquiao has.

Fully agree. Early career Pac is what he reminded me of when I first saw him.
