Just how powerful is Sergey Kovalev?

I think he has that raw, concussive power. He claims it comes from stretching often, especially the shoulder muscles. Like the poster above mentioned Adonis has a more booming straight left which comes from good technique. Kovalev has that power which surprises you because he has deceptive reach and seems to hit hard even when he doesn't seem to be planting his feet. It just comes from good balance

I suspect he hits hard enough to take out Adonis. Although the reverse is probably true too.

What's good about Kovalev is the number of short powerful shots he can throw in quick succession and with both hands. Stevenson is a bit more about the booming straight left.

That's why I'd favor Kovalev over Stevenson, though it's pretty much 50-50. Kovalev can end it with either hand and with more versatility.

Glob I hope that fight happens. It will be so good.

I think there are bigger single hitters, but he is so Dangerous because he has good power in both hands and has the technique and timing to actually land it. Often in combination!

Stevenson for instance is probably more of a one punch artist with his left hand, but that is all he got, and his opponents will know what to look for.
