I'd be a lot more impressed if he said his sole focus is on a rematch with Gonzalez. True champions go back into the lion's den and try to avenge their losses instead of this rebuilding crap. Fight the guy who knocked you out in one round, Abner!

It baffles me how anyone can not like the kid. He's great for the sport in my opinion.

Yeah I saw him more confident than last time. He displayed a nice arsenal of weapons and us Mares fans know how good of a combination puncher he is. What. Surprised me most was his accuracy, he was landing at will and anything he wanted. He was also able to maintain his high workrate through every round and all though he was tagged with some heavy artillery, he didn't back peddle or flinch. That alone indicates he is finally moving on from his first loss

Mares vs LSC must happen in 2015. There are some serious contenders in the division, and if anyone is going to take away LSC 0, I'm sure GB and Al Haymon want it to be Mares.

Arum is pushing a Loma bout but Axeman did say he'd prefer Jhonny Gonzalez over Loma right now.

I don't like Mares' chances at all against Walters. Too big, too strong, hits hard. Mares not good enough to outbox him.

I could see him giving Lomachenko problems if he comes with an agressive gameplan and makes Loma fight going backwards - he's not comfortable fighting like that (see Salido, Russell Jr in some rounds). But the question is: can Mares take Loma's power punches? After all, he fought bantamweights at 122 and when he moved up to 126 he got hurt by Jhonny and even Ponce de Leon I think.

Mares should avenge his knockout loss first in my opinion. If he can't beat Jhonny Gonzalez in a rematch, then he has no business staying at 126.

I know its past its sell-by-date but I still want to see Abner versus Donaire.

I still think the Jhonny Gonzalez fight was a fluke. Mares will avenge the loss to Gonzalez, take Leo Santa Cruz's "O", and be back in the Top 10 P4P towards the end of 2015. Book it, .

I guess it would take him beating Donaire into a coma, litererally. Before people understand hiccups in boxing.
