@twash_bag @upperwestbruin @mrsantosII Comedy. Mathematically impossible to have lost $16M. And my job is to get fights on SHO, not PPV.

They also had the "most expensive undercard in history" only to have the event tank

No wonder Sho and Espinoza started hiding PPV numbers because they're losing money big time

gate is separate. that's between the event host and promotion co usually.

there is sponsorship. but a lot is with floyd or gbp or the casino, etc. not all showtime.

tv rights for other countries might be with showtime. depends, TR usually has their own separate stuff that's why they have a TR broadcast team aside from HBO. gbp/haymon not sure.

I was just asking the question. There really is nothing to get into, because if the rematch cost Showtime money the first had to cost more because it was a much more expensive promotion while generating less buys.

One million PPV buys for Mayweather-Maidana would generate roughly $70 million in gross revenue based on a price of $65 (standard definition) and $75 (hi-def). The buys skew typically slightly higher for the HD broadcast over standard def. The cable carriers take about 50% of the pie and Showtime also gets a small cut leaving around $34 million for the fighters and promoters on one million buys. It would take 1.5 million buys to top $50 million after the carriers and Showtime get their cut. There are other revenue streams, mainly the live gate which was $15 million and the fourth highest in the history of Las Vegas. Closed-circuit, foreign rights and sponsorships from Corona, O’Reilly Auto Parts and AT&T T -0.34% add millions more, but not nearly enough to drive Mayweather’s paycheck to $70 million.
Note the bolded. Showtime and PPV carriers get their money off top, along with Mayweather. They're not losing. People need to just get over it. The only thing that gets "lost" is the PPV upside for fighters.

See my response above. Again, Showtime would have to shell out in order to lose. They pay for very little.

So you're saying whatever Espinoza says should be taken as credible when in the same tweet he says he has nothing to do about PPV? Now that's comedy lol. That's like me saying it sounds like your transmission is dying followed immediately by me saying I'm not a mechanic though. You'd go out and get a brand new transmission with this information lol.

there's more to promotion than tv ads. plus even in house tv ads cost money, bud. say cbs shows an ad it's not free.

and production costs are a lot. it's not cheap.

Umm... What? Saying 1.5 million buys would make them 50 million means absolutely nothing about them making or losing money prior to that number.
