    Cotto/Canelo doesn't make sense.

Why would Cotto want to fight Canelo on May 2. If he loses Floyd isn't going to want to fight him. Now if he fights Floyd and loses it will only be by SD or UD.
Cotto can still fight Canelo afterward because losing to Floyd is expected and lets face it Floyd doesn't beat anybody up. He just wins.
I have a strong feeling Floyd and Cotto already know they are going to fight each other. It makes to much business sense. Floyd gets to fight for another title in another weight division and Cotto suits his style better then Khan or Pacquiao. I think maybe Floyd told Cotto to keep it on the low so Arum and Goldenboy can keep chasing ghost. Thinking Cotto would sign to fight on May2 Arum and Goldenboy are happy thinking they finally got to stick it to Floyd.
Floyds probably happy because he already knows what's up.
I think even Showtime wouldn't mind because of the historic aspect of it.
FYI I'm not saying Cotto should be next. I think most of the boxing fans agree it should be Pacquiao.

There's a lot of conflicting reports out there, I'm not sure Floyd/Cotto gets made. One day Cotto is a free agent and can fight with anyone the next day the Cotto/Canelo negotiations are going well so who knows. Fighting Floyd is the much better career move win or lose and I think Cotto takes Floyd in a rematch. Floyd knows this as well so we'll get Floyd/Khan probably.

      canelo/cotto is 50/50 money wise.

how much can cotto get from floyd?

even if a floyd/cotto does better ppv, canelo/cotto might be way more money.

If he loses to Floyd there's a good chance he can still get Canelo. But I don't see him getting Floyd if he loses to Canelo.

You're assuming Cotto definitely wants to fight Mayweather again. He may be perfectly happy to take big money for Alvarez without a care about Mayweather.

Yet... he took less money to face my Martinez for legacy and he could make about the same against Mayweather as he could against Canelo. He got 8 million guaranteed and 35% of the PPV the first time they fought. At worst he gets the same deal and considering it would sell more PPV's overall the easy choice is with Mayweather. The question is whether Mayweather or Showtime will accept that fight.

I don't think we need to see Mayweather-Cotto again, although I could understand that when people look back on Floyd's career, if he held the linear middleweight title that would be another great achievement.

                maybe but canelo is beatable.

cotto has no chance against floyd despite what ppl say cotto wasn't competitive.

                  exactly.

plus we all know how much or i should say how little maidana got cashing in that floyd lottery ticket, cotto would probably make more fighting canelo due to the mexican puerto rico rivalry plus a bigger piece of the pie unlike that fat glutton floyd who wants everything.

It will flop if Mayweather fights on that date.
