To the casual fan, asking this question seems valid with the answer easily known in the state of honor. In the common world it would seem reasonable to question fighters ducking others. This is not the common world.
Does anybody on this site even know what its all about?

You are lost on this one LostGuy. So what you are saying is that if a fighter "ducks" a fighter than he must be a coward.

there is no objective answer for your question of what boxing is all about
everything is subjective to one's own experiences worldview and boxing is no different
I thrive on competiton. I love competing, and I don't like losing. That being said, I would fight just about anybody to advance my career. However, styles make fights, and there are some fighters that may be better than certain guys, that just don't match up well with them. If I knew that I was better than a guy on paper, but felt that I couldn't win the fight, I wouldn't take the bout. So, I would duck someone if it was a lose-lose situation. I'd like to think that if I was an excellent fighter that I'd take all comers, but I know that if I found myself in a situation where I had little to gain and everything to lose, I'd probably avoid that situation. Arturo Gatti was mentioned, and even though he's not the best fighter in the world, he does not duck guys. That's one of the reasons I like him so much. I'm a die-hard Corrales fan, and like Gatti, he'll fight anyone. My favorite boxers are guys like Diego and Arturo that are high action fighters with questionable defense, that will fight anyone... even if the odds are against them. They've both been victimized by Floyd Mayweather, but the fact is that they were willing to take him on. Corrales has fought the best guys around for years... Mayweather, Castillo, Casamayor, Freitas, Garcia, Gainer, Manfredy, etc., and has done well with the exception of Floyd. I'd like to think that I would be that way, but I couldn't see myself battling a guy like Castillo that shaves years off your career, and has a granite chin.
