they can schedule the fight any day of the year and it would still be the biggest boxing event since Tyson-Lewis.

I'm still not convinced that this will push through this year though.
    i agree with you.

    date is no biggie.

this fight will sell no matter what day.

This thread doesn't make sense, what does Philippine Independence day has to do with a boxing match?

do you think bob/gbp/hbo will move canelo-cotto to let floyd-pac happen if floyd insists he fights pac on the 2nd of May?

it doesn't make sense for the promoters to cancel that big of a fight (canelo-cotto) on a mexican holiday weekend when pac-floyd will be big no matter what date. however, i can see floyd not settling for any date other than what he prefers.

With a population of around 3.5 - 4.5 Million Filipinos in the US, I seriously doubt they would see a drastic increase in PPV buys simply because of a patriotic agenda. Anyway I don't see more money coming in on a date that the General public has no idea what is being celebrated. 5 de Mayo and Mexican Independence Day affect boxing numbers because there are 34.5 million Mexican Americans alone, plus the illegal immigrants residing I the country. The fight will sell regardless of date though but I honestly doubt settling to fight on The Philippines Independence would have any added benefits to a fight of such magnitude.

yes. canelo-cotto benefits more than floyd-pac on a mexican holiday weekend. that's a given.

                i think it's an issue for gbp/canelo/HBO.

they want to set canelo up as the new "CINCO DE MAYO/MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY" guy.

arum is in because it'll also benefit cotto's end plus his HBO partner.

filipinos will buy pac fights no matter the date.

                  this has no benefit. none.

HBO, Canelo and Oscar aren't involved in this negotiation so again, why is this an issue?
