This fight will get made because Haymon and co. know that they've already milked as much out of Maidana as possible, and it's time to sacrifice him to the next money guy. they know that Thurman will have the legs to avoid Chino's firepower, and potentially catch him with a shot from the outside or late in the fight after frustrating him all night.

you're right. they just miscalculated in that case. my guess is they assumed Broner's speed and skills would be the difference, but he's just too stationary to handle a big puncher like that. but that's one of my favorite fights that i've ever seen live.
