Yes, I know SHOStats is not the deciding factor, but that should be enough to realize that they were two completely different fights.
There's a reason Lara was more active, throwing close to 200 more punches in this fight, while having the luxury of clowning around and fighting with his hands down.

Two different quality of fighters in front of Lara in each fight. He really had nothing to worry about with Ishe who is a basic fighter with no "pop" in his punches. On the other hand he was mindful of Canelo's power and boxing ability. Moving more frequently and thus keeping Canelo's total output at a minimum while being careful of not being caught with any power shots.

I really would have loved to see Lara stand right in front of Canelo with his hand down like he did against Ishe last night, while also being willing to trade. There's a reason he played it safe and threw less punches against Canelo, he realized he had a better boxer in front of him than he gave him credit before hand and the body shots made him aware of his power.

I just watched the lara/smith fight and it conceivably possible smith won 3 rounds...i gave smith the first, then some rounds in there where the body punching and uppercuts that snapped lara' head back were enough to negate lara' headshots.. there was definately sum rounds that could have gone either way, it would just depend on your criteria and if you dont score body punches, which is BS because this is the pros not the ams..

But Lara ran for his life in that fight with canelo, i had it scored a draw originally but i could have been 7-5 either way....i watched it again and i had canelo winning 7-5...i cant score rnds for runners who are doing nothing but running..... people that scored it 9-3 either way really DKSAB..

Exactly what you said in my opinion.

Everyone is saying that Lara could've easily beaten Canelo if he threw more punches. However, they don't realize that there's a reason Lara didn't throw more punches - he was aware of Canelo's power and wasn't confident opening up to potential counterpunches to get himself chin checked.

I'd like to believe boxer's aren't dumb, and they're quite aware of what they can and cannot handle. In this case, I feel Lara wasn't confident his chin would hold up, so he pranced around and jabbed his way to a close decision loss.

The difference was the output - and I thought he did more to give the perception that he was the boss last night. I enjoyed that, it looked like he was having some fun too. Smith gave a good effort, started well, good body shots throughout...but in between all that...there was separation in this fight that didn't happen in the Canelo fight imo.

Ishe LOST because he's a BUM and had no business in the ring with Lara anyway

Lara Won by a land slide! If you can't see that then you need to start following another sport!

Lol at the comparison. I don't go off compubox but they give you a good idea overall of how the fight went. Lara outlanded canelo by 10 punches throughout the fight if you want to go by compubox. That averages out to less than 1 punch a round. Which means it was super close. I'll take canelos body work and aggressiveness all day over Lara's jabs and running. Yea I said running. A lot of that wasn't movement/boxing. It was straight running. 7-5 ginger
