Two different quality of fighters in front of Lara in each fight. He really had nothing to worry about with Ishe who is a basic fighter with no "pop" in his punches. On the other hand he was mindful of Canelo's power and boxing ability. Moving more frequently and thus keeping Canelo's total output at a minimum while being careful of not being caught with any power shots.
I really would have loved to see Lara stand right in front of Canelo with his hand down like he did against Ishe last night, while also being willing to trade. There's a reason he played it safe and threw less punches against Canelo, he realized he had a better boxer in front of him than he gave him credit before hand and the body shots made him aware of his power.
