Tarver would actually be by far the toughest opponent for Briggs since he fought Vitali over four years ago.

Briggs won't fight Tarver or anyone that presents any risk what so ever until he gets a title shot. He has spent a career around 20 years fighting cans and getting undeserved title shots, that won't change anytime soon.

No mention of Povetkin, Pulev, Perez and Jennings?

It's more likely we will have these made -
W.Klitschko Vs. Bryant Jennings (early 2015)
Anthony Joshua Vs. David Price (late 2015)
          Lucas Browne Vs. Povetkin/Pulev

There is some good fights you mentioned though but I'm not sure...
I personally would rather see Fury get the winner of Wilder and Stiverne, I can't see Fury fighting Browne without a title on the line.
Maybe Browne will get to fight Pulev/Povetkin which I think will end terribly for him if he fights either of those two.

          Who knows...

An optional defense for the WBC title winner next month before they fight Klitschko seems pretty logical. Tarver has a name, some skill, and shouldn't pose much a threat.

If I were David Haye looking to get my feet wet after injury, I'd give Tarver a call. But Tarver might not be a big enough name for Haye, who is only interested in mega fights.

Personally, I'd like to see him face the winner of Glazkov-Cunningham.

It's really hard to see Briggs leapfrogging Jennings, Fury, uniification with Stiverne, Wilder, rematch with Povetkin, etc.

His title shot depends either on a series of very unfortunate injuries or business conditions leaving Wlad without opponents or waiting until he's in this 50s.

Tarver would probably be the most money he's made in years.

Two of Haye's "biggest" fights were walking through a gray haired name in Ruiz and a gray haired not-really-name in Harrison. Tarver and Briggs would both fit the same bill, even older and in some ways bigger names.

I actually think he "retires" specifically until opportunities like this pop up.
