Floyd has a guarantee. It's CBS/Showtime that need the 'real foe'.

The nationality of Floyd's opponent doesn't change the demographic makeup of the United States. As with any form of mainstream sports or entertainment, sales are driven by those who makeup most of the paying audience.

Remember he turned down bigger money this year for a Canelo fight so that he could take a middle weight title from a 40 year old man coming off 2 knee surgeries and a year layoff.
Cotto is aware that another loss damages his legacy and probably forces him to retire soon, he thinks with Roach he can beat Canelo, I don't think Cotto thinks he can beat Floyd.
... And you assume that Cotto would face "legacy" issues in case Floyd offers him $20 mln in order to fight for the middleweight lineal belt?

I didn't have to "hear" a rumor like this when I started a thread here on this possible (before Maidana 2 even happened).

                  Doesn't seem likely for Manny.

People are ready to give him credit for beating Vargas, Marquez 5th fighter, and Danny Garcia.

The only person they seem to be boycotting is Floyd in this sistuation.
True, I agree. I think Floyd has put himself in a position where HE'S the one that needs the fight most. Manny has choices as the perception (which is probably true) is that Floyd has been the one to stall it. If they both fight, then I think they put themselves back on track to having other meaningful fights.

Manny has options at 140 and 147. Maybe even some moving up from 135. Floyd's options are in the Khan, Brook, Thurman, Golovkin realm. May be some others I'm forgetting.

This fight needs no promotion nor time too build-up the fight, they could sign Floyd vs Manny on April 30 come May 2nd vegas will be booming and fight will sellout in a hour
So miss me with the Vargas angle that fight is already signed regardless of what floyd does
