Remember he turned down bigger money this year for a Canelo fight so that he could take a middle weight title from a 40 year old man coming off 2 knee surgeries and a year layoff.
Cotto is aware that another loss damages his legacy and probably forces him to retire soon, he thinks with Roach he can beat Canelo, I don't think Cotto thinks he can beat Floyd.

All I know is that Floyd is backed into a corner here. Fight Pacquiao or step off the date. Its that simple.

While its fair to say cotto/canelo would sell more among hardcore fans, that's not the case with casual fans who know Floyd far more than those guys.

It would be bad for both networks to have a fight on the same day as both would lose money. If Floyd fights manny, HBO would surely move canelo/cotto off the date if the fight gets made.
Im just gonna squash the bullsh^t you are writing. Which are floyds highest ppv sales?

Heck, Mayweather vs Wlad isn't even relevant. It's May-Manny or both retire.

In all seriousness, I think the only fights Floyd will get credit for in his career at this point are:

Mayweather vs Pacquiao - a given, these two SHOULD BE rivals in the ring
Mayweather vs Golovkin - not that GGG is proven vs top notch competition, but it's risky vs a bigger man who is powerful and technically sound
Mayweather vs Thurman - see GGG, also because of his youth and speed/power combination looks like a threat to Floyd

(Not Cotto because they've fought regardless of it being at 160, not Lara because he's not lost to Canelo regardless of how controversial, not Bradley because Pacman already avenged that, not Khan because he's too vulnerable despite fast hands)

Ultimately, both Manny and Floyd can fight and call it a career. They need each other. Due to perception and villainous role, Mayweather needs it more.

Errr..Not judging by this forum. Floyd's fans on here are comprised entirely of jobless scratcher's living at home with their parents, even though they're in their twenties and thirties.

This might surprise you. I don't live with my parents, blessed to have a job and a family. I am a fan of Floyd...

...in the ring. However I've become less of a fan over the past couple of years due to his antics and unnecessary ridicule of Manny without showing a desire to make the fight happen. Less of a fan due to his activity and treatment of the women in his life. I hope that his children grow up with morals that don't require money. I'm tired of his persona and the flashy lifestyle doesn't appeal to me. I don't care whether his purse is 38.4 million or 42.85984 million. I don't understand fans of Floyd who boast about his guaranteed purses. Ultimately WE'RE the ones $70-$80 short and 2000 calories heavier at 1:00AM on Sunday after his fights.

The only thing that has me hanging on by a threat is that I (and maybe many other Floyd fans) hold onto the talented "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather Jr. of the past who, while confident, didn't come off as a big headed jerk. He's not the most exciting in the ring, but he's gifted and smart. We appreciate his patience and ability to adjust. It's more about being a fan of the talent.

Ultimately, I just want Floyd to fight his should be in-ring rival in Manny.

Well that would put you in the one percent then! The only floyd fans here that keep it real are those that get the talent but readily admit the guy is a ****bag and a duck. Sadly, there's no more than 3 of you here. The guy I was responding to readily posts in the 'we' context as if floyd's money also belongs to him. Toecurlingly embarrassing stuff!

                    Your almost right.

But I think Manny has a few more choices, you said BOTH RETIRE??

                    Doesn't seem likely for Manny.

People are ready to give him credit for beating Vargas, Marquez 5th fighter, and Danny Garcia.

The only person they seem to be boycotting is Floyd in this sistuation.
