Comments Thread For: Paul Williams: No Pacquiao, I Want New Guy To End Floyd

Former champion Paul Williams is one of the few people who follow the sport of boxing who would rather not see Manny Pacquiao face Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Williams, who suffered a career ending injury in 2012, wants a new face to take over the throne of Mayweather. He would rather not have Pacquiao, 35-years-old, thrown into a position where he might become the first man to end the 47-0 win streak of Mayweather.

He was saying he doesn't want Mayweather to fight Pacquiao because he doesn't want him to lose to Pacquiao, he wants Mayweather to lose to Thurman, Spence or Garcia.

Well Mayweather doesn't want to lose period,so he probably would fight Garcia or Spence, but not Pacquiao or Thurman.

sounds like he's saying that the changing of the guard should be a young lion so boxing can carry on. and not by another old lion in pacquiao. hey p williams. neither pacquiao nor any up and comer are beating mayweather.he's just to intellegent for their young energy. so continue to admire bro.

The irony of that statement is gold. Aside from that, paul would have beat Floyd's ass. Too tall, too black, too southpaw.

It's all speculation, no one knows until they fight. Which is doubtful.

I think we'd all love to have a 25 year old or so star out there that was good enough beat Floyd and take the mantle but there just isn't anyone even close ATM.

Thurman and Garcia would be the closest but Floyd would handle those two easily.

Psc is the only one with a shot right now.
