Would love to see Floyd give a young buck a chance, Keith Thurman is the guy I would pick he is a Haymon guy so it should be an easy deal to make.

Paul WIlliams was a good boxer but like every fighter who hasn't or didn't fight Floyd; NSB posters elevates them solely based on that fact.

keith has too many hole in his defense, floyd does not punch hard but he punches hard enough to demand respect, there are some mistakes u cant make against fighters like floyd. Thurman needs more work but he looks promising i hope he works on those holes

That would be amazing good karma if Mayweather and Pacquiao put it off again, lost their next fights, and all the interest went away.

Unfortunately, I think all the good karma in the sport went towards Kovalev this year. It's more likely they'll put this fight off as long as they want, make it whenever they want, and make all the money they want off it, because no one seems to care how badly these two have conned the boxing fandom these past 5 years.

I guess if you want Floyd's lose to be as meaningful as possible to the sport then you want him to lose to a youngster like Thurman. That way even though all Floyd star power won't get transferred over it will go enough to the next guy that as long as they can stay successful that it will really build. Manny sadly is likely to be around the same period of time as Floyd so in terms of of what it does for the sport it really doesn't matter who wins or loses that fight (really the only thing that matters outside of pride things is if they can do a rematch or not).

No man, you need to build a career of plaster victories before Cotto will fight you. Get that name up first with Capetillo though.

                      Enter: Keith Thurman.

Seriously though, it would probably benefit the sport of boxing as a whole, though people thought Canelo would be the guy to take the throne and he ended up getting embarrassed. So, it's not always that easy and experience trumps youth many times in this sport. Me personally, as a big Floyd fan, I'd rather see him take a loss (if he does anyways) to another fellow ATG like Pacquiao and set up a trilogy.
