I honestly couldn't care less, I'm not seeing any of that money. I don't know why fans care since they don't see any of it either. Just make the freaking fight happen. That used to be what fight fans cared about but now in this day and age it seems to be about PPV sales and counting another man's pocketsComment

Boxing is also a business. The business-side is the reason the fights you presumably want to see don't happen. Even if you don't care about it, it is still very important.I honestly couldn't care less, I'm not seeing any of that money. I don't know why fans care since they don't see any of it either. You can ignore it, but others find it important and worthy of discussion.Comment

I do know because I actually read articles and know people in the industry. You make shit up as you go along without providing any sources except the bullshit you make up.Such a terrible post. You have no clue how much international money was made so that just needs to be thrown aside. What makes your argument silly is you literally think there are no expenses except the purse for the fighter. Go figure I always thought delays and cancelled fights were a bad thing because it costs a ton of money to promote fights. I need to start promoting some fights, it's just free money.
Along the way, Mayweather’s representatives will put together deals for sponsorships ($2 million), international television rights ($2 million), domestic television and closed-circuit rights ($1.5-$2 million) and Showtime’s delayed-broadcast rights ($750,000). All of that money trickles to Mayweather Promotions, which is Mayweather.
The floor rumbles and your ears feel like they’re stuffed with cotton from the combination of the crowd noise and the blaring music. The flashes from cameras and smartphones dot the darkened arena like a million fireflies on a summer night. As the boxers make their way toward the ring, it all intensifies to a maddening crescendo that doesn’t stop until after the first punch is thrown.Comment

The only 2 people that make money when Floyd fights is GBP and Al Haymon.
GBP gets paid a $5 million fee. Any and all other expenses to promote the fight are charged to Floyd.
Al Haymon gets 15% of all his fighters purses.
Pacquiao's situation is completely different than Floyds. Its impossible for Pacquiao to lose money when he fights. The event could get canceled and he would still get paid cuz he has a guarantee.
Floyd can and has lost money on 3 outta 4 SHO fights.
Satellite companies take 50%.
IRS takes 40%
Al Haymon takes 15%
GBP takes $5 million
Promotion, travel, insurance, fees take the rest.
No wonder SHO is desperate. 50-50 or no fight.Comment

I know it's a business. Fights don't happen for various reasons, none having to do with this thread counting people's pockets after PPVs.Comment

There were reports that Schaefer got a flat rate of $2 million in the Canelo fight. Just enough to cover the statewide tour. You can't expect much from the greedy team. If TBE had his way, he would not even recruit GBP. He is that greedy.
Bottom line is GBP under Schaefer didn't do well. Schaefer was there for ceremonial reasons. He left GBP with nothing to show for it, financially.Comment

Floyd still gets his money. That's not debatable.
What's clear is that if it comes down to it. Showtime/CBS will have the ultimate say as to sign off on the dates Floyd fights.
If Cotto-Canelo want Cinco de Mayo, then CBS will make Floyd on another date lol. They won't let Floyd compete with Cotto-Canelo. They will lose huge money.
What is also clear is that the head of CBS wants Floyd vs PAC. There was obviously a meeting with Arum. It is apparent. They want the fight. Not sure what they can do however.
We don't know what clauses/terms are in the contract.Comment
