          • I won't be surprised if CBS starts exploring the idea of making fights in Macau. Arum keeps coming back there with or without Pacman.

And I think the meeting between the CBS exec and Arum is not necessarily about Mayweather and Paqcuiao. Come on people. This is common sense.

Who wants to bet that HBO won't be the first and last to televise fights in that part of the world.

I don't know if they are losing money or not but the numbers are.

              Maidana vs. Floyd 1

900k buys x $70 minus the 50% that goes to cable companies = $31.5 million

              Paid gate - $15 milllion

Sponsors + international TV money $2-$5 million

              Total pot = $47.5-$51.5 million

              --------------------------------

Lets say they spend $2 million on promotion.

              Mayweather got $32 million

              Maidana got $1.5 million

              Khan got $1.5 million

              Broner $1.25 million

              Collazo got 350,000

              Love $100,000

              Periban $35,000

Rest of the card lets just say $100k which is doubt but sure.

              Total expenses around 38.5m

There is still left over money for whatever other expenses you can come up with.

You can do the same for the second fight and see there is leftover money.

You can get the paid gate here.

It's really not that hard to make the calculations since it's all out there.

              • You gotta be a moron to say Arum is not making any profit in Macau when he keeps coming back there even without Pacman.

I can imagine Pacman getting paid in full without even waiting for the US PPV. The number of sponsors alone in that part of the world would offset the cost of paying for the whole production of the fight. They're obviously making huge profits. Otherwise, they would stop doing it.

It's idiotic to base all profits on US PPVs as if billions of people all live in the US. There's Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Middle East, etc. Rich countries that could easily get hyped up by the thought of Manny fighting in China.

Such a terrible post. You have no clue how much international money was made so that just needs to be thrown aside. What makes your argument silly is you literally think there are no expenses except the purse for the fighter. Go figure I always thought delays and cancelled fights were a bad thing because it costs a ton of money to promote fights. I need to start promoting some fights, it's just free money.

                    Common sense question:

If you live outside of the US who would you rather want to see,
the electrifying Pacquiao or the boring Mayweather?

                    Exactly.

Pac v Algeri was boring. An ESPN fighter who was there for Arums money grab.

And Pac is no longer electric
