My opposition to Flyod vs Cotto for the WBC middleweight belt is not connected in any way with a possible fight between Floyd and Paquiao.
I believe strongly that GGG deserves a chance to achieve his dream of unifying the middleweight crown. Golovkin should be the man who fights Cotto next, not Floyd.
Two faded welterweights fighting for the lineal middleweight crown while the best middleweight in the world, a guy who might just turn out to deserve mentioning in the same breath as Hagler, Monzon and Sugar Ray Robinson, stands there frustrated in the wings would be a travesty and a farce.Comment

He moving down to fight a champ leaps and bounds better than Brooke in Garcia. Manny is a 140 lbs fighter anyway. EVERYONE knows that. Thats why the Mayweathers were saying he was on roids anyway because he shouldn't have ever been at that weight. and Fitzsimmons has an OPINION like everyone else. I rememebr he said ODH would white wash Manny too. Called it a circus? And someone please tell me how The Ghost is considered any better than Algeri? LOL or Ortiz is any better than Bam Bam? Geesh.. Cut it out. They both been fighting Cream puffs. Bradley is the best fighter anyone of them has fought the last 3 fights. Period. That's bull**** because Kell Brook is the IBF Welterweight title holder and not Haymon managed... no excuse!!!!! Fight a legit ranked welterweight who has a title, in his prime, undefeated, and a better choice than Al*****i was or Jesse **** Vargas ffs! Manny would have two titles just like Floyd except Floyd is the lineal champ. Manny can also fight Andrade for a legit 154lb title so he can actually call himself an 8 division champ.Comment

and pac will be remembered as the guy who walked away when it matteredHey ... that's exactly what I thought while I was reading this.
Given the ridiculous amount of money being talked about now, if Floyd doesn't fight Manny he will always be remembered as the guy who called himself TBE, but wouldn't fight his No.1 challenger for what would have been the biggest purse in boxing history.
On Floyd vs Cotto, the fact that Floyd could soon be walking around calling himself "The Lineal Middleweight Champion of the World" after beating a super-welterweight he has already beaten once before, perfectly illustrates the unholy mess boxing is in today.
I'm not a Floyd hater but I believe the sport would be better off without him. He has too much power and sucks too much money and interest away from other fighters who need a bit of both.
The money and the interest in boxing will still be there after Floyd has gone. And maybe I'm being wildly optimistic here, but I think there is at least a chance that some of it will end up being invested in fights the fans actually want to see.Comment

depending on how khan looks vs devon, i don't know if khan winning an ugly fight will be enoughlol much of this article reads like a guide on how Mayweather can try to come out looking better than Pacquiao without actually having to fight Pacquiao.
Anyway, in terms of options, I think Floyd has Khan if AK wins, whereas Pacquiao doesn't have anyone left to fight.Comment

Whatever. I was commenting on this article and the situation as it is right now, not the way it was 5 years ago.
And I'm not a particularly big fan of Manny either, btw. I think he very likely was on PEDs when he KO'd Hatton.Comment

Please open up your minds to understand this:
Mayweather's legacy is on the line. At this point in his carreer, this should be foremost in his mind. If he truly believes, as you do, that he would surely beat Paquiao, then his feud with Arum should not prevent him from doing the fight.
The only legitimate reason for not doing the fight is if he believes Pacquiao can beat him. All the other reasons are just excuses.
I think the above is simple and easy to understand unless you are blinded by your adoration for Mayweather.Comment
