I don't know what's in Canelo's contract, but I do know what's in Haymon's...and those contracts have rightfully been referred to as slave contracts when leaked.
It seems Haymon is saving all his best matchups for his rumored NBC/NBCSports deal so he can maximize his income. He wasted this year after having a good 2013. If he makes all the fights he could this year, it would be a great year.

would you have a problem with him doing this, assuming he follows through?

It's in Haymon's best interest to make Thurman a star. There is no reason why he wouldn't and shouldn't try to make Thurman into a bigger star than he is now. You are basically on some conspiracy theory ****, where you feel Haymon is intentionally trying to sabotage Thurman's career. Dismissing the facts that several big fighters turned down Thurman fights in the past.

So now that they are with Haymon, suddenly we are supposed to believe these same guys are willing to be bullied into fighting a guy they have no or little interest in?

I think Thurman deserves a title shot. But do you think a guy like Kell Brook is going to fight Thurman next year? Even if Brook were with Haymon, that Brook is unlikely to agree to that fight. And it should be obvious why.

They don't have to be bullied, they just have to be told. Thurman himself is frustrated at the types of fights he's getting. I don't think he's trying to sabotage his career, I think he's putting it on hold to get the most money out of the old guard before properly matching him against relavant competition. So why do you think Roc Nation basically singled out Thurman?

Haymon can make any fight in his stable if he wants to. Guerrero and Porter were given insulting offers to fight Thurman. It's not like this is something unusual and you're either fooling yourself or just plain ****** to believe so. Thurman will do the same exact thing in the same exact situation. Which means it's still in Haymon's hands to make such fights happen. If you interpret asking for more money as ducking, then you better make sure you don't use the same excuse on your idols.

I said assuming it happens. He had a great 2013. I can see being mad about 2014 and being mad if he keeps it up, but if he makes all the fights you want it seems you would still have a problem with him. that doesn't make sense.

How can you say he's putting his career on hold when he tried to get Thurman to face Maidana as far back as 2012? Guerrero in 2013? Malignaggi in 2013? You think Maidana was going to entertain the thought of Thurman this year? Even next year, Maidana is going to say hell no. Porter already said NO. You say all Haymon has to do is tell them ABC. But no Promoter or Manager operates like that for the most part.

If Haymon tries to get Brook, Brook is also going to say HELL NO to Thurman. If Alexander beats Khan, he will definitely start saying HELL NO to Thurman. Even though right now, before the fight, he was cool with that match. If Alexander wins, he will want guys like Mayweather, Brook, etc.

Yup, you're right I have a big problem with him advising fighters to drop their belts and turn down their biggest paydays....you don't?

And they needed a good 2013 to get the Showtime thing rolling after getting the boot from HBO, can you name another year Haymon put on great fights? I think 2013 is kind of overrated anyway considering a lot of these fights should be made on a regular basis......Haymon has given boxing fans a battered woman mentality where we don't expect much and don't get much.

Porter wasn't given an insulting offer, nor was Guerrero. Kenny Porter just doesn't want any parts of Thurman, said maybe way later down the line for an absurd amount of money. And that there has to be a guarantee that the winner gets Floyd Mayweather. Said let Thurman do what he does on that side, and they do what they do on their side.

Who has gotten a soft touch under Top Rank, please tell me. Manny? Maybe now but that's because there is no one for him to fight. But he was fighting the Morales, Barrera's and Marquez's while guys like Danny Garcia who's best wins are Khan and Mattyse. Here's the really, really crazy part. Danny Garcia has had the toughest schedule of any Haymon fighter and he's still barely cracking a million dollar payday.

Top Rank has put guys through the ringer like Manny, Floyd, Cotto, Oscar and I keep going but all those guys fought the best while under Top Rank ESPECIALLY when they were making a name for themselves. Those happen to be some of the best fighters of the 2000's as well, it shouldn't be a surprise that guys who are TESTED consistently and WIN are bigger draws than guys who are fed bums and win impressively. You get better when you face better competition, what Haymon does is see your talent and keeps you there with no room to grow. He's a ****ing farce and horrible promoter AND advisor. Don King built talent better than Al Haymon FFS.
