Mayweather is better than Marquez, but will do much worst against Pacquaio.

Since when did Floyd have a great jab? He uses the body jab most often, and that would get countered with the right hook by Pacquiao. Floyd doesn't really use the jab against southpaws anyways. He's always been right lead dominant against them.
Correct me if I'm wrong.Comment

Well I would say he wants to land his left hook, the right hand would be everything to him in that fight but the left hook is the punch Floyd could really catch him bad with if used correctly.
Jabs and rights set that up.Comment

You and everyone else with that line of thinking sound ignorant, it's not considered the most important punch for no reason.Comment

Very true. Pac counters the jab too well with his straight left. He times it so well to the point that the risk outweighs the reward when you jab against pac.
Morales, Barrera, De La hoya, Cotto, Mosley and Bradley all found this out the hard way. Pacquiao tore them all up up with his straight left countering the jab.
Even Marquez has never hurt or been effective against pac with the jab.Last edited by DARKSEID; 12-02-2014, 01:12 AM.Comment

Morales utilized it perfectly in the first fight, Bradley utilized it well, as did Marquez, especially in the 3rd fight which allowed him to set up the uppercut. This is probably the first time since I've joined Boxingscene, where I've heard a couple of people express this kind of ******ity. It's never been said about Pacquiao, ever, at least not that I've accounted for.Very true. Pac counters the jab too well with his straight left. ******ity? Ask Morales, Barrera, De La hoya, Mosley, Cotto and Bradley how they feel about Pacquiao's counters. Ever since Pacquiao started working with roach, that's the number one thing they've worked on over and over: Countering the jab. The straight left counter is Pacquiao's most effective punch against a right handed fighter.Morales utilized it perfectly in the first fight, Bradley utilized it well, as did Marquez, especially in the 3rd fight which allowed him to set up the uppercut. Morales didn't win that fight with the jab. He won it with the right hand, his body shots and his counters against a less experienced Pacquiao who hadn't developed a right hand.
I don't know what fight you were watching, Pacquiao was countering Bradley's jab all night in both fights and won them both.
Marquez has never been effective against Pac with the jab.
38 jabs landed at 21% vs 100 Power punches landed at 39% In the 3rd fight.

You don't seem to get it, that's the biggest issue right now. Against Pacquiao, the way the jab is supposed to be utilized is to get him to over commit/ or blinding him to set up leads (Marquez, Morales). Morlaes' jab played a role as well and it contributed in getting him the victory, Marquez utilized it well and Bradley could have conceivably got the win so I beg to differ (Off-topic, don't want to go down that road). All of them utilized their jab in a way that it served it's purpose.Morales didn't win that fight with the jab. He won it with the right hand, his body shots and his counters against a less experience Pacquiao who hadn't developed a right hand.

What your not suppose to do is leave the jab hanging out or looking to double up/ or triple up on it, that's what got Cotto in trouble and the fact that Cotto doesn't have a lead right hand to set it up with.
Mayweather will be effective with it because of his ranginess, quickness and reflexes, point blank. I'm not talking jab exhibition either but it'd definitely play a major role.Last edited by Doctor_Tenma; 12-02-2014, 02:17 AM.Comment
