Co promotion, Mayweather promotions is not legit, Mayweather needs someone on his side to do the hard work, rather than be Al Haymon, Ellerbe and Goldenboy, but its clear he needs a promotional company in his corner

Ellerbe is still there, and Mayweather Promotions also brought in Bruce Binkow, Schaefer's old #2, to operate as Ellerbe's #2 (Binkow brings far more actual promotional experience than De La Hoya, if we're honest).

Mayweather now has his own license, and Schaefer, who Mayweather liked working with, is no longer the workhorse at Golden Boy.

Mayweather has a better relationship with Showtime than Oscar has now, and Mayweather has a better relationship with the MGM Grand than Oscar does.

Whatever the number, we can easily guess it's much more than Pacquaio vs. Algieri. Only a fool would guess otherwise. Now maybe if Floyd were fighting the equivalent of Algieri, like Malignaggi (and even HE has much more popularity than Algieri), then the numbers might be similar.

You do realize Mayweather has blatantly lied about PPV numbers in the past (see the Ghost fight) and Mayweather has lied about how much money he made (see how much Mayweather was paid for Wrestlemania appearance)

Pac v. Marquez 3 did way more than Mayweather v. Marquez and Maywather was coming out of retirement... and Pac-Marquez 3 had a terrible undercard...

This idea that Mayweather sells way more PPVs than Pac is just not true... Pac isn't even American and sells PPVs in his country also and Mayweather is American and sells in no other country.

Take Canelo and De La Hoya out of the equation and Mayweather doesn't outsell Pacquiao with common opponents by much because Pac-Marquez 3, 400 K more than Mayweather-Marquez...

Pac-Marquez 3 = 1.45 million

Mayweather (fresh out of retirement) v. Marquez = 1.05 million

There was a time when boxing was as relevant as the NBA, NFL, etc. You'd find boxing gyms everywhere. And I mean, everywhere! Today though? It's a ghost town. You really don't hear about much about boxing in the main****** aside from Mayweather and Pacquaio. That wasn't the case before.

MMA moved to more main****** channels, and in turn, became more popular in the main****** than did boxing. Although financially, none of those guys touch the elite boxers. Boxing won't die, but main****** wise, it's literally being carried by Pacquaio and Mayweather. And that is truly sad.

I dont see Mayweather or Pac on this list. Something tells me Boxing is as strong as its ever been, the numbers dont lie. Right now the best fights are broadcast on paid network channels, while MMA is benefiting from fights on sp.ike t.v. and cbs. The money involved with boxing is to big to stage these fights on regular T.V., MMA doesnt share that distinction.

De LaHoya has nothing to do with this. There is a reason MP got its license in Vegas and NY and that is so they won't have to deal with GB. Oscar needs to tend to his fighter. And wasn't he trying to get the May 5 date for Canelo, so why would he be involved here?

Manny was carrying this sport on his back while Floyd was hiding in "retirement". He has brought in unbelievable numbers of new fans to the sport of Boxing. He has an ENTIRE COUNTRY behind him fully supporting him. He has transcended from being just a Boxing star into a global phenomenon, congressman, pro ball player/coach, etc. with numerous endorsements from all kinds of reputable companies and people. The entire world knows Manny, not Floyd.

Floyd is lucky enough Manny agreed to give him the "lion's share" just to get him in the ring, even though he obviously doesn't deserve it (really? $100m for 12rds of boring cowardly "boxing" in survival mode?)

If he turns down $100million.. man, honestly who could defend him anymore?
