I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's moreso a case of half-assedly glancing at some dates on Boxrec, but seriously that **** wasn't THAT long ago.... was it? Did they really forget about Oscar looking mediocre as **** against old Stevie?

I mean I remember Mayweather-DLH like it was yesterday. Shit, I remember Pacquiao-Barrera I like it was ****ing yesterday.

Steve Forbes made DLH's face look like it was attacked by bees. That was at 150lbs. Gotta give credit to Roach. He called it. He said DLH hadn't made 147lbs in 10 years, he will be weight drained, and he also referred to the Forbes fight to show how washed up DLH is. All the signs were there, and Roach saw them all but still people weren't buying it.

And there's no need to Boxrec these two fights. Like you said they are recent, AND they were very popular and heavily documented. I caught that mistake off the top of my head. If a journalist has to look up dates of the most popular fights in recent years, something is wrong with the hiring process.

Pac-DLh was one of those fights where Oscar got a lot of **** for making it and people were saying he was a cherry picker, but by fight week I think most people realized he was way way in over his head, but still cautious to put money on Pacman. I was pulling hard for Oscar but knowing deep down he was about to get ****ed up.

I remember John and Ricardo from Boxing Truth Radio both changing their pick of Pacquiao a week or so before the fight, and I thought "Oh Jesus Oscar, you're fucked."

-Mayweather fights on Showtime PPV, not on CBS.
-Mayweather hasn't had a contract with Arum since he personally bought out his last deal.
-Ellerbe works for Mayweather Promotions, after spending the prior decade as Mayweather's conduit while Richard Schaefer was working out the deals.
-Floyd Sr has trained Mayweather for maybe 5 of his 47 fights.

and the countless other names brought up have no actual stake in Mayweather's fights, outside of maybe buying a ticket or maybe ordering the show a home.

Mayweather Promotions has it's license to promote the fight, Stephen Espinoza seems to have thrown his lot in with Mayweather, Floyd Mayweather Jr is still the sports top draw, and every fighter 160-135 is chomping at the bit to fight him (so he won't be want for opponents).

Floyd's done things his way, and he's not going to get punked into some nonsense by anyone.

I really hate saying this, but when Pacquaio and Mayweather depart, boxing will taste that much more of a downfall. And it has to do with the marketing of professional boxing more than anything. It eventually has to make its way back onto mainstream outlets in order to do what it used to do in the days of old.

There hasn't really been anyone close to getting the mainstream attention these two have gotten. It's so bad that, when you talk to random casuals on the street about boxing, they are literally surprised that it still exists. And their reply is, 'I thought boxing was dead.' And if that's not their response, they only know of Mayweather and Pacquaio. To me, that is an extreme problem. And it's been this way for the past 5 years to make it worse!

If and when Mayweather and Pacquaio fight, then what? What happens after that?

I will have to fundamentally disagree. Do you know why network channels like hbo and Showtime don't carry MMA anymore, because of low veiwership. Boxing still rules the networks,millions of people watch hbo and Showtime for boxing matches that don't include Mayweather and Pac. Believe it or not those events are just as if not more lucrative to a network then PPV. Boxing wasn't born on PPV and sure as hell won't die with out it. Mayweather and Pac are more like a side show, a good side show but a side show none the less.

Agreed although I think these two fan bases will still find a way to argue over 200 pages
