Floyd Mayweather doesn't give De la Hoya anything. If anything it's Oscar who didn't want the rematch clause. However if there was a rematch clause with Oscar it would've gone both ways because Oscar isn't a spoiled rotten brat with no substance or tact. I'm not trying to be an @sshole but what were dealing with here is Floyd Mayweather and he has shown time and time again that he doesn't give a d@mn about what the fans want. He has lost plenty of respect through the years and would be much more respected if he didn't act so selfishly. And for those talking smack about Golden Boy last time I checked "TMT" just got their promoting license like this summer and the subpar GPB was promoting all of Floyd's fights and giving him a percentage of the take......Comment

And im assuming the part in bold wasnt meant for me because I think it was smart Oscar to through his hat in the ring.Comment

If there is going to be a rematch clause in a fight of this magnitude it should apply to BOTH fighters. I never said the fight wasn't going to happen because of that demand, I said it was just a rumor so far, but if it is true then he deserves to be called out on it.Comment

I really hate saying this, but when Pacquaio and Mayweather depart, boxing will taste that much more of a downfall. And it has to do with the marketing of professional boxing more than anything. It eventually has to make its way back onto mainstream outlets in order to do what it used to do in the days of old.
There hasn't really been anyone close to getting the mainstream attention these two have gotten. It's so bad that, when you talk to random casuals on the street about boxing, they are literally surprised that it still exists. And their reply is, 'I thought boxing was dead.' And if that's not their response, they only know of Mayweather and Pacquaio. To me, that is an extreme problem. And it's been this way for the past 5 years to make it worse!
If and when Mayweather and Pacquaio fight, then what? What happens after that?

As I said De La Hoya being the A side didnt even get a rematch clause, I would be surprised if Pac did. And do you consider Pac a spoiled brat? he had a one sided rematch clause against Algieri. Im sure Arum wants a rematch theres a lot of money in it.
And im assuming the part in bold wasnt meant for me because I think it was smart Oscar to through his hat in the ring. You see nothing wrong with that demand? Really?

I agree. If the fight actually happened, and it played out as a close controversial decision in his favor, a rematch would likely happen. All logic and evidence, including financial, points to this. But they will deny this point you're making. And it's mostly because, first they hate him with a passion, and second they don't believe Floyd will fight Pacquaio in the first place.Comment

Exactly what I'm saying. There shouldn't be a re-match clause, the winner gets to decide the terms of the re-match. Because Floyd is so insistent on his rematch if he loses then obviously his equal and opponent Manny Pacquiao should get one also if he loses. Oscar and Floyd were not equals to the extent Manny and Floyd are.Comment

I presume this is the USA you are talking about. In other parts of the world - yep, there is life out here - boxing is thriving. Here in the UK we don't get it for free on terrestrial TV most weeks like we did in the old pre cable and satellite days, but as many people as ever watch the big fights via cable and satellite and on-line.
