0 day cutoff was the original request-adjusted by Floyd because Manny didn't want it. Manny accepted 14 day cutoff more then 5 months later, only after Floyd took it off the table after the Mosley fight.

Lets just hope he and bob agree to a deal now.

As for showtime itself-the contract info posted says both he and Floyd have an out. SO if SHowtime was losing money-they would have exercised the out already.

Just like there is a HUGE difference between being bankrupt and being broke-people think they mean the same thing. Has Showtime exceeded expectations-likely not But that isn't the same as losing money.
So glad to c there are a few intelligent people on this forum

What's so funny about that? At $70, 1m buys barely covers Floyd and opponents guarantee

Floyd's purse was $41.5 million and Canelo was $12 million. Yes, they did over 2 million buys.

Ok, this fight was successful and they seemed happy with the numbers. But really, those are large guarantees; I wonder how much Showtime earned for themselves.

I remember Bob Arum saying something along the lines of if the Floyd would just leave golden boy and get with Don King the fight would be done in a day it's the same thing

Not what happened. Bob talked to Greenburg, Greenburg called Floyd camp and inquired about his plans. Bob called that "negotiations". Floyds team including Schaefer said there were never any negotiations. Schaefer even offered to take a lie detector test to prove it. I really think this is one big thing that made Floyd feel that Arum was not really serious about making the fight, especially after what happened in the first negotiations.
              Bleacher report lol

The man in the middle of the storm, Greenburg, remained silent even when pressed repeatedly to offer his version of events.

On Monday night, Greenburg finally did.

              He took the Arum/Pacquiao side.

"Fights like Mayweather vs. Pacquiao are significant because of these fighters' ability to connect with sports fans around the world. It's unfortunate that it won't happen in 2010," Greenburg said in a statement. "I had been negotiating with a representative from each side since May 2nd, carefully trying to put the fight together. Hopefully, someday this fight will happen. Sports fans deserve it."

thats because maybe they are praying for the pac fight. Yes 4 mil in 4 fights, 2.2 on one fight alone. Also, what where the numbers for floyd-maidana 2???

Since when are 8 oz gloves EVER pillows? So there isn't an A side and a B side? Does one consistently fighter bring in more PPV and gross more in his fights or not? Pretend all u want, save a very few, even the most ardent Pac fan here would admit that Floyd is the A side. So sorry, I'm not being a "floydiot", I am stating a norm that has been in boxing from the beginning. Where were u when Pac was demanding catchweights, drug testing, ring size, and dictating purses to ther fighters? Were u complaining then??? Funny how Arum and Pac recognize these things, but you can't. If you'd take your head out of Pac's crotch for a moment, maybe you would realize that this is a reality in boxing.

Arum is jumping the gun, all I need to say to that - Fans and human beings look at whats happening, Yes a fortune 500 company cannot make decisions without all parties involved, but how long has Arum been doing business with Showtime as of recent ? Shouldn't Arum be reaching out to Haymon then both reaching out to Showtime? This is how Showtime can get sued or have egg on their face . Arum does not want this fight - he is Greedy and this is the biggest fight out there why has it not been made with a 5 year demand?, it is something we are not privy too that's happening behind the scenes for this fight to not happen. I think it will because Manny is finally publicly asking for it, not through print, but we heard it from his mouth - that's called pressure, but now you see Arum speed balling and HE is going to kill it - Floyd despises Arum, and Arum knows it, could care less. Arum likes power and in this situation he has power - words for thought...

The math behind the million PPV estimate isn't wrong entirely, it just fails to consider many other factors.

The million PPV estimate I assume comes from:
                      $35,000,000 Floyd guarantee / $70/ppv buy = 500,000 buys * 2 (to recover the network's 50% take) = 1,000,000 buys.

Which as I mentioned above isn't necessarily wrong, just lacking. It fails to consider things such as live gate (any revenues and expenses associated with that), closed circuit (which I believe might go into the live gate, though I'm not entirely sure), the various revenues and expenses involved with having the live sporting event, international broadcasting rights which would be owned by the originating broadcaster, advertising revenue and expenses, etc...

It just fails to consider that Showtime, Las Vegas, and Mayweather himself have their own sources of revenue stemming from him fighting. So it might be in the ballpark, but overstated none the less.
