Well he certainly wasn't good enough to fight on that stage.
Chris Algieri is not a "BUM"

Giving labels and titles is the misnomer.Well, no. He's not a bum. But let's face it, neither is he world class or top champion material. We won't know for sure for some time, but right now, the guy isn't anything at all to write home about. He won a title off an incredibly limited paper titlist in a lower division and got shown for what he is, as did the guy he won it off. That being a standard top ten contender/domestic level fighter at best. I've got to say though. The fact that Pac can fight this level of opponent with seeming impunity is incredibly laughable.
Let's put it this way. If another certain someone had fought this guy, particularly after dragging him from a lower division, that certain someone would have been crucified from here to eternity and back for all time ie eternity.
It's a joke that such a double standard exists and doesn't get looked at with any sense of comparison, because it was bad enough with someone like a veteran, multiple time, multiple division champ coming off a world class win at the peak of his career, let alone someone of this caliber. Funny stuff...in a very, very sad way.
As for comparing him to Maidana...well, I've already shown that to be absurd really, or even Guerrero. That's also absurd.
Before this fight, Algieri had fought champions, former and present, a whopping once in his entire career. He'd fought title challengers a whopping great 0 times. Yes, that's zero times. He'd fought top ten contenders a whopping great 0, yes another zero, times too!
All up, he's fought quite literally **** all. The highest guy he's fought was Taylor, who was rated fourth by the IBF at his best, and about 20-30 in the world rankings. Apart from that comes his only 'top' win, against the limited but sometimes powerful slugger Provodnikov. An arguable decision shall we say, but let's leave it there.
So, here is a guy with one questionable top win, and nothing else to speak of being compared to two long time, veteran, multiple division and multiple time champions who have proved their worth over and over by fighting and beating the best and doing it against other world rated champions across many years. How do you think to compare these guys again?
This right here says all you ever need to know about the laughable bias and double standard. Pacquiao fights a literal no name opponent, brand new paper titlist, with literally one questionable top win on his resume, and makes him move up to a catch weight and it gets compared to Maidana and Guerrero. Urgh....this place...
No one is great from the get to, it's a process. Muhammad Ali wasn't great in his first few fights - he had to prove it. And so for all the greats now.
When Pacquiao fought Lebwada (sp?) and Marco Antonio Barrera, many thought he was too "green" also. But Pacquiao had to prove himself over time.
Algieri could very well be great later if he continues to put it the great work ethics, enthusiasm and if he finds a great trainer to pair with.Comment

There's no embarrassment in losing....only in not trying. Algieri, at least, have shown a propensity for his enthusiasm, hard work and the will. He was a former kickboxer with a college degree who entered the ring last night.
If anything, that's a testament to his positive mind and willful action. I hope for him to continue his good job.Comment

He's no bum, I can see him bouncing back after this loss, he has a good boxing technique to beat a lot of fighters at 140.
I would like to see him fight a rematch with Prov or a fight with Vargas, and maybe we can see a fight with Crawford vs Algieri in 2015.
Fighters that I think he can beat are.
Prov
Herrera
Vargas

The problem is that you can't say all that about Floyd's questionable fighters. In other words, you are NOT being honest with yourself.
It is very comparable to Floyd's opponents. The difference is that when Floyd fights these type of fights, you Floyd fans throw out all logic and just bring up the fact that they have a title or were P4P fighters BUT you don't analyze it the way you just did with Algieri.
Why don't you try to analyze where Guerrero, as an example, was the year before fighting Floyd? Same with Marquez, Hatton, Ortiz, Maidana. It's all smoke and mirrors once you get the courage to analyze it the way you did with Algieri ............ Try it out for the giggles ....... GO!!!!Comment
