Comments Thread For: Bellew vs. Cleverly II Eclipsed by Hardcore vs. Casuals?

The rematch between Liverpool’s Tony Bellew, 22-2-1 (14), and Welshman Nathan Cleverly, 28-1 (14), is almost upon us, but the fight itself has been overlooked to an extent due to the ongoing debate about whether or not the contest deserves its PPV status here in the U.K.

First things first, it takes place at Liverpool's Echo Arena on Saturday night and is a rematch of their October 2010 WBO light-heavyweight title fight. Cleverly won that one by majority division, but both have lost since then—Bellew to Adonis Stevenson for the WBC belt (TKO 6), Cleverly lost his title to Sergey Kovalev in four one-sided rounds—and they decided to move up to the 200lb division in the aftermath of those defeats. The headline fight, itself, isn't PPV worthy - but the undercard is decent, with some intriguing match-ups.

A domestic level clash between two guys unable to cut it against the elite. I see boxrec have McKenzie and Afolabi as the top 2 British fighters at the weight which says it all really. The undercard is solid (or as solid as British boxer vs carefully chosen opponent x5 can be) but no way should this card cost extra on top of the amount people are already paying for sky sports.

The fact it's PPV is ludicrous. It shouldn't be.

        But I've still brought it.

£17 for this is just insane.

Don't know about anyone else but i can't wait for this card.

A good few very decent fights on there.
